First its not bollocks. I even included the Muhammed Biographer who wrote it. He slaughtered an entire jewish tribe because they insulted Islam (remind you of anything, seem familiar?). He also banished two others.

Muhammeds idea of peace was to invade, conquered, push Islam on the natives and offer incentives such as no taxes for Muslims but all other faiths are taxed.

Peioke had to pay Muslims just to enjoy the same rights. This is all detailed in the qaran, hadith and Islamic history.

They were not tolerant. Seriously, try and tax Muslims more than we pay in this country just because they are Muslims, or the Polish. Infavt let's tax everyone whonisnt a United fan like we are.

I go along with this. The thought of being worm food when your time comes is difficult to accept so the concepts of heaven, hell etc are comforting to some people. Who knows what awaits, if anything, on the "other side".

The older I get the more I struggle to take religion seriously. Terrible things happen to good people. Fantastic things happen to vile people. What kind of god is overseeing that?

The concept is the complete opposite, you may well have a point on the way it has been warped by "evil men" but the concept of any religion is peace and love and a way of humanity living together and respecting each other. If people took the base of religion and acctually applied what it says instead of interpreting it into what they want, the world would be a better place. It's also daft (imo) to say we'd be better off without religion as it would just be replaced by something else and the nature of man would warp that new system to suit his needs.

the problem is the war and poverty. Look at any well developed nation, they don't take their religion to the nth degree.

The harder life is the more people lean on religion and if that hard life is war and conflict, then that will certainly give rise to violent religion, to violent people because violence is all they know at this point, violence and fear, followed by hate and revenge, the very things that stop humans thinking rationally.

The more prosperous a society becomes, the less they want to throw it all away with violence, our governments pretty much ensured no prosperity in the middle east for the masses

Every religion has an element of the "one true way" woven into it's scripture though, which promotes the "we're right, you're wrong" element that has caused religious conflicts since the dawn of civilisation.

The good moral guidance element, is merely just common sense and it's nothing that people need to be told, as respecting each other and living in harmony are the cornerstones of the collective structured society that humans have organically created.

Again talking bollocks as Muslims were required to pay a percentage of tax towards the social up keeping as part of the religion and because non-Muslims were not part of the faith they had to agree to pay towards the social up keep.
