RHC would rather men in sparkling white toff outfits banging their balls on each others wickets for 12 days straight. Real sport not allowed.
Yeah, forget all that namby-pamby skilful nonsense and stupid gentlemanly pretensions-it's only sport if people are knocking **** out of each other.
http://www.bbc.com/news/uk-34537024 There are aspects of cricket that are reminiscent of sport but I would classify it as a game more than a sport due to its limited athletic attributes. I don't doubt skill is involved. Skill is involved in chess, or snooker, or darts, or as above, bridge but they're more games than sport. Cricket is like golf. It hovers on the boundary between sport and game.
Saw the Rousey/Holm fight. Very reminiscent of Rocky Balboa in Rocky 3 when he fights Mr T. Like Rousey, Rocky faced very little in the way of serious challengers for a long time after beating Creed , and became very complacent. Then when a serious challengers like Clubber Lang/Holly Holm comes along, Rocky/Rousey doesn't take the fight seriously, and doesn't have the edge (The Eye of the Tiger). Hopefully she will train up and get her edge back and win back her title. Sounds silly, with the Rocky 3 analogy, but that seriously is how it looked.
Mate if thats your definition of tickling, then you are doing it wrong. Fact is, Rousey has the minerals, I have seen it. Her problem is she has had no real challenge in the female division, she was being spoon fed part timers and wasters. She finally came up against someone worth their salt and she wasn't prepared for it..... How she reacts now is what will make or break her career.
I wasn't criticising Ronda, I think she's great. what I meant was she wins most her fights by submission; aka the arm bar. Rocky would kick his own arse for such a thing!
Yeah i heard that a lot, people complaining why Ronda was trying to stay up and strike instead of taking Holms down. Read this article, it will explain it a lot better than I can: https://www.jiujitsutimes.com/ronda-rousey-vs-holly-holm-fight-analysis-video/
I did a lot of martial arts when I was a younger chap and did a couple of mixed martial arts competions, I used to get smashed up by the Jui jitsu fighters because they can strike and also work on the ground where as I was only ever good striking. If I won I won early otherwise I'd end up in some kind of lock and I'd be done. It hurts thinking about it.
I always did Judo as a kid. Did well at it too. Used to enter a couple of local competitions each year and always got gold. (medals aren't real gold unfortunately). Unfortunately, Judo would probably be near useless in a real fight. Decades later though... Jogging through the woods... Tripped on a tree root and fell over. Instincts made me turn the trip into a forward roll and I ended up back on my feet after the roll and kept jogging. ... Felt like a double 0 after that...
I was never any good at Judo, I was a skinny lad when I was younger, very fast and great at striking but as soon as I tried Judo or any ot the other close contact I'd get battered.
I played football when I was a kid. when I wasn't doing that I was either building a den or climbing trees #properlad
At least it has its moments of mirth. What's funny about two splitarses kicking **** out of each other, unless it's in the Cheese, of course?
