I was never any good at Judo, I was a skinny lad when I was younger, very fast and great at striking but as soon as I tried Judo or any ot the other close contact I'd get battered.

I've always had great core and lower body strength and poor upper body strength.

Judo was perfect for me because all the throws and holds had more to do with leg and core muscles and less to do with arms and chest. I've got long legs and short arms. I'm almost a human t-rex.

I would have made an absolutely lousy boxer. <laugh>

I'd have said Judo was a poor choice in that regard, you needed to train the rest of your body <laugh>

All the strength you need in judo came from the legs and the waist. If you frequently need arm strength then technique is wrong. Arms were more used to guide and direct. Strong legs and strong core much more important than arm strength.

Except in groundwork where arms were probably more important... But oddly that is where I excelled the most. Can't explain why.

Anyway... Out of shape and slightly overweight at the moment... I'd no doubt be terrible now.

Ronda showed very little respect before or during the fight. She knew what Holm would do but walked straight into the punches and kicks regardless.

Ronda as apparently got a broken jaw (three places) and has had to have it wired.

Neither Ronda nor Holm will fight until a rematch is arranged. Ronda is doing Hollywood **** first I think.

First ever UFC fight I watched, didn't realise how big a draw it is. Wonder when some of the UK based Muay Thai fighters may think about making the step across to this.

There are plenty of UK fighters in the UFC, just none that are really top draw. Conor McGregor has made the Irish take note, I think we need someone of his calibre to get it going.

Saying that it's the fastest growing combat sport these days. It's the new boxing. So I would imagine it won't be too long before the UK get right into it.

Even this thread has shown that people actually do watch it, or at least are interested in it <ok>

This video is pure hype - love it!!

I've been watching UFC on and off for years. I watched a bit of it when it first started (the one-off tournaments) when the only rules were that there were no rules. That was ****ing brutal <laugh>

Boxing's been boring for years as a result.

It was called 'Pride' back then when there were no rules. Head stamping was allowed <yikes>

I do like UFC it's just chaos, and modern day gladiator ****.

There was some proper scary **** happening back then, they just didn't give a ****. They had to put some controls in place to allow it to grow. They didn't use gloves, kicked others in the head when they were down, they could do low blows, punch back of heads, etc. Shocking at times.

I think its great that having a 100% record means ****all in UFC too. Everyone loses eventually.

I was taking specific fighting styles, with my limited knowledge it would seem kickbers would take over. However, a guy I work with says that the Jujitsu guys are the one to watch?

There are aspects of cricket that are reminiscent of sport but I would classify it as a game more than a sport due to its limited athletic attributes. I don't doubt skill is involved. Skill is involved in chess, or snooker, or darts, or as above, bridge but they're more games than sport.

Cricket is like golf. It hovers on the boundary between sport and game.

Absolute ****ing nonsense. You've clearly never played it at a senior level <doh>
