Well lads with welbeck not coming, who is the striker you would like and why?
I'd like us to sign a striker outright and stop fxxxing around with loans.

I think we might be done to be honest. I thought if anything Welbeck would ge back for another loan but that seems to be dead now.

One player who I think would fit in well with our playing style is Carlos Vela. Hasn't exactly set the Premier League on fire, but the lad has undoubted quality, is a brilliant finisher, and could fit the LW/Supporting Striker role.

Wouldn't cost too much, would love to see him at the SOL

It's impossible to second guess Bruce, but i have a horrible feeling we ain't gonna get another striker in, which could be a potentially fatal gamble for Bruce.

I'm sure Whickham will play, but we need to be careful not to stunt his development and use him correctly, for a couple of months at least.

I like Aduriz at Valencia, a really tough player who always gets goals, and who plays second fiddle to Soldado (who, incidentally, is a magnificent striker..).

Valencia still need money, that wonderful new (unfinished) stadium is going to ruin.

My fear with Vela is physically, wonderful on the ball, the king of the chipped finish, but outmuscled too readily, similar to Dos Santos.

    Technically superb.

I`m not sure that we will get another striker SB keeps on talking about expecting big things from Sess.

If we do sign the lad from wigan who gets mentioned now and again i thing SB will wait and see how we do until January.

A lad from Wigan keeps getting mentioned. I hadn't noticed any threads about that. Do you know who he is? <doh>

I think we will endeavour to bring in one more player, a biggie. I think from Bruces comments that's what I pick up, but he's giving it the 'i wont be gutted if we don't pull it off' ie we arent gonna get taken to the cleaners. with his comments about sess being considered amongst the forwards I think target is a left sided midfielder. We all know who this is.

I don't have any inside info or anything like that but I can see 3 possibilities:

1: We sign Welbeck & That French bloke

2: We sign That French Bloke and a Striker on Loan

3: We sign Welbeck and a LW on loan

My personal gut feeling at this moment in time is that option 2 looks most likely.

Quinn has always alluded to a signing in August, that could be the French man once we get a few other off the wage bill. I see McCartney, Gordon, Killgallon, Steed and Nos going which will free up quite a bit in wages.

I think a loan striker would be sensible especially if Campbells recovery is looking good, that lad was a class act before he got injured.

I think N'Zogbia WILL be a Sunderland player. I've gone on record many times to state this and I do think another striker will be sought. Welbeck may now be off the radar and if we do get N'Zog, the striker will more than likely be a DJ Campbell price tag. We are 'short' in more ways than one and a big target man should still be our concern. We lack height up front and Connor Wickham cannot just be thrown to the wolves at 18 years of age.

I'd be very, very happy with that BB.

I'm a big fan of Bendtner and N'Zogbia is a mackem in waiting.

And the service from N'Zog & Larsson suits Bendtner's game to a t, not to mention that he holds up the ball well, aiding Gyan, Sess and Gardner.

This would make me a very happy boy Cest.

Well reading between the lines in todays Journal it looks like Bruce will be using Sess as the main man to partner Gyan.

Bendtner is a very good finisher..... That guy who can't sleep is canny too, but I think that deal is dead. We always have a final day signing with our crap fax machine playing up so it'll happen on the last day for sure. Don't know who but something will happen.

Funny but a few weeks ago Bendter was mentioned and everyone was up in arms but now things are looking a bit desperate as nothing has happened or reported in our striker search we are willing to take anyone lol.
Don't get me wrong i for one would take him.

Not me mate. Backed Bendtner from the start.

Always fancied the kid to do well if given a regular berth. He would be a great foil for Gyan IMO.

Yep think Sess isnt doing us fans any favours by continuing to score in pre season!!! With every goal he bangs in i feel more convinced we arnt going to sign any more forwards. Becoming more and more likely Bruce will use him as a forward behind Gyan in a 4-5-1 against stronger teams away from home and then possibly bring in Wickham/Dong when we are more offensive at home and move Sess back to midfield.

Tho wont be complaining of where he plays if he bags a couple against the scousers and them over the river!

Never been that impressed with Bendtner personally and I don't really want him at the club but I can only post opinion and you guys must have seen something in him that I haven't. If he signs then he will get my full backing - also if we get these 2 (him and Zog) we'd have 2 left footed players - 3 including Ricco although Ricco's left footed crossing leaves a bit to be desired!!

Edit: Think our biggest issue without forwards is the African Cup of Nations when gyan will be away for a month. I'd rather we had someone in the side now to make sure that they are gelled with the side and the way we play and then, when Gyan goes to the cup of nations, this player could slot straight in..

Don't rate Bendtner in the slightest personally. I'm starting to think we'll get neither Zog or Wellbeck. Villa will surely sign the former and SAF won't let the latter go.
