Ronald spoke to him and tried to persuade him to stay because it would be better for his overall development, but he still went. Were I a defender, I would have clung to Ron's leg for as long as possible, what better place to learn. The kid could have been king................but he got a nice apartment & lives near some good clubs instead, good for him.

I'm still wondering if the unregistered agent was a relative. Pretty poor show for him to jump ship so early, but the club obviously weren't that fussed and took the money happily.

Was there not some issue with his Dad being a coach and not seeing eye to eye with Sir Les?

Chambers probably wouldn't get into the Saints side now as first choice RB. He certainly wouldn't be a first choice CB.

Although, with another year of first team footy he'd be a much better proposition. But we'll never know.

If he'd stayed, he'd be first choice RB right now, in my opinion.

When I watch Cedric it makes me realise that Chambers was a CB and not a natural RB. Even Maya is better suited if you want a predominantly defensive RB. I read on his old Saints page that he was quite a versatile player who was originally a central midfielder, then a defensive midfielder, then a CB [all right-sided] before converting to RB so that he could perhaps make the first team. With Clyne getting injuries he did, but he was always a bit lumbering for me for an RB. Clyne was always first choice for me, and Soares is just more of the same, perhaps even more attacking, the way Koeman likes it.
