M8 U GNA STAND 4 THAT CHEEK FRM DAN S?
He struggles to accept my 'banter' when it is directed at women - thinks I am misogynistic - yet if he bothered to know me, he'd realise that I consider anyone fair game for 'teasing.' I don't mind to take some in return - but I didn't think that I'd have to explain to him that a football pitch isn't a field of war - but usually ends up that way. Maybe Dan has never been to a football match !

Certainly not to see a real/decent team.

I don't struggle to accept anyone's "banter". I just donlt think people who take the moral highground on racism should start airing other prejudices.

I have been to plenty of football matches and still think that comparing them to a war is pretty crass - especially in the same breath as talking about showing respect for the fallen in actual wars. That said I don't really think it's necessary to play the last post at every ground in the country prior to kick off.

I am not concerned if you are(n't) able to interpret 'banter.' I certainly do not place myself on a pedestal - but make no apology for my views on racism. I don't expect you to establish much (anything) about my character - so therefore I can accept that, misinterpretation through lack of detail, can lead to mistakes. I could go 'deeper' in this thread - by suggesting that, because of the tribal stance of football fans, football stadiums are not conducive to promote peace and reverence - otherwise why are fans segregated ? ( it doesn't happen in rugby ). Football players are no better. It might not be 'full on' military exercises with guns etc - but surely you do get my point ? All the pre match hand shakes count for nothing when the referee blows his ( or her ) whistle at 3pm on a Saturday.
I mentioned reverence. I find it an insult to the memory of 'the fallen,' when in the next minute, fans would kill each other if they could lay hands on the 'enemy' - so I'd rather not have people forced to display any 'respect' if they can't wait to show their hatred for 11 men ( plus subs) - and the 'faceless' fans of those players.

If you're not concerned why feel the need to mention it? As it happens I entirely agree with your stance on racism.

I was trying to be humble - I would never force myself on anyone - you can chose to engage with, or ignore me - but I will always try to qualify my position. I don't demand that you always agree. ( I am grateful that you have similar thoughts on such an emotive subject as racism ).

Watched 12 years a slave last night.

It reminded of how slavery was like the balls in a game of snooker where the black ones were worth the most and the white controls all the action.

If you get upset because some don´t respect it you are a dick.
If you make a point of objecting you are a dick.
If you do what you feel you are Deniece Williams.
