please log in to view this image Thursday 5th November 8.05pm White Hart Lane Europa League Group Stage Qualification's up in the air and all of the teams in the group are in touch with each other. We're in real need of a win and a professional performance, after the disastrous game in Belgium. Nowhere near good enough on the night, despite a bright start, so I expect much more from this one. Three games in a week would suggest that the manager's going to make some changes. I'd expect Davies to replace Rose, but Trippier's mare in the first game might make him a risk. Townsend's been dropped from the squad for this one, which further limits the choices available. Maybe Wimmer or Mason into the starting XI? The Austrian failed to make the bench for Villa, though. Lineups for the last Europa League game: Spurs: Lloris; Trippier, Alderweireld, Vertonghen, Davies; Dier, Dembele; Townsend, Lamela, Eriksen; N'Jie. Subs: Vorm, Wimmer, Rose, Winks, Alli, Onomah, Kane. Anderlecht: Proto; Gillet, Mbodj, Deschacht, Obradovic; Defour; Dendoncker, Praet; Tielemans; Ezekiel, Okaka. Subs: Roef, Nuytinck, Conte, Acheampong, Heylen, Sylla, Kawaya. Who needs to be rested for Sunday? Who needs a start, instead of bench time? How many risks can we take or should we even be taking any?
I'd actually start Son, hopefully he can get a good 60 mins in and be ready to impact the game over the weekend, whether it be from the off or on the bench. With the amount of derbies we have coming up, I'd play a fairly rotated side tonight and then a fully rotated one away to Qarabag. Vorm, Trippier, Toby, Jan, Davies Dembele, Carroll Lamela, Alli, Son N'Jie Lloris, Walker, Wimmer, Dier, Eriksen, Onomah, Kane
The other group game was a draw. Must win now, so we can put pressure on Monaco when they come to WHL.
Don't don't agree with this and it won't happen. Going into the north London derby we want to be going in on a high. We aren't good enough to play a complete reserve team v anderlecht and win. And I want to qualify from this group and a loss tonight would make it very unlikely.
Qarabag and Monaco played out a 1-1 draw in Azerbaijan earlier. This puts the Principality side on six points and everyone else on four.
So a win tonight to go top of the group. That's a great incentive and we have Monaco at home so we would be in a very strong position.
Fullback changes again, Mason starts instead of Dembele, while Carroll and Son are back on the bench, basically. Glad to see our impressive Korean return. Hope Trippier and Mason do a little better than their last appearances.
Good line up. Hopefully the second choice fullbacks, along with the rest of the defence, perform a lot better than the last Anderlecht game. Edit: Woops, Qarabag are our next game in the group
My main concern is that, what if Trippier has another 'mare? The options are either to move Dier to right back and bring Dembele on for Trippier, or move Alderweireld to right back and replace Trippier with the left-footed Wimmer of cack-handed Fazio.
Monaco and Qarabag drew so wins home against Anderlecht(by 2 goals) and Monaco would see us qualify top ahead of that long old trip to Azerbaijan.
Well if we can't play our reserve RB at home in a Europa League group game then he's not really much use is he? Let's hope...
