I've had considerable time to reflect now on this performance and I've drawn the following conclusions (similar to most on here)
- A good manager knows how to react to certain situations in the game, be it with substitutions or a system change. It's here where Ramsey is exploited. He has no Plan B.
- Brentford were there for the taking, and we took off Luongo who happened to look our brightest player in the final third.
- Grant Hall has been superb for us when he's played
- Nedum Onouha's defending for their goal wa
s an utter disgrace. He's not a Captain, he's too top heavy, maybe stay out of the gym and work on your technique?
- Why did we not snap WBA's hand off when they put in that bid for Matty Phillips?
There has to be greater balance now between the usage of youth and experience. Or better yet, if CR doesn't think our youth are good enough then let it be known or move them on.
Our academy has been failing for years, the last player we produced was Ray Jones, bless his soul.
I find it difficult to comprehend that Harriman could not do a better job in this team than what's in front of him. Recall him and Ben Gladwin immediately and get them in the side. Both have got points to prove and will give everything, and our side could use some of that energy.
I'd personally like to see this side take the field;
Smithies
Harriman, Hall, Hill, Kwapeka
Luongo, Fer, Gladwin
JET, Austin, Chery
While I don't agree with your alternative selection it is an improvement on current failed system. And show's there are plenty of alternatives to our own tired uninspiring system
Ramsey will scrape some sort of result (not a performance either vs Derby or Preston) and it will prolong his stay letting more of the season drift by making it harder and less likely to recover from.
The guy is an idiot. Formation we play rely's on full backs playing high up the pitch as often as possible. But Konchesky and Perch\Onouha can't do that. And anyway our centre backs are too slow to cope with that so we end up doing neither.
Zero creativity from the pairing of Henry and Toszer. Also no pace and no prospect of them carrying the ball forward to open up space. Neither do they want the ball or pass and move
That takes so much out the side we become flat and dull. Rather than sustained pressure and good performances the only reason we aren't in the bottom 3 yet is that occasional and isolated individual bits of quality have saved us (and some easy home fixtures)
Players seem to have no confidence in the manager. No belief and no enthusiasm.
Sack Ramsey before the international break and pay the probably small compensation and get Rowett in (who unlike Ramsey) has earned the right and proven his ability in order to be given the chance (and the time) to turn it around
