Does anyone remember the halcyon days' that produced this rubbish? "Liverpool want Monk to replace Brendan". "Garry Monk is the best Manager in the Premier League". Then there was the "Assessment of Monk" thread that was meant to lay the ghost of Michael Laudrup. Well that worked out O.K. Time for a reality check, and perhaps a Reassessment of Monk thread is now in order. I can't stop laughing.
Let's not get carried away with monk out is it! we all know that we play better against teams who try to take us on rather than 10 men behind the ball tactics. Especially organised teams like Stoke. If this was WBA, Bournemouth, Villa there would be more justification with the over harsh criticism. The next three games are huge and we need to pick up some points otherwise real questions will need to be asked
Poor decision making and poor passing equals loss. Actually, I don't think either side deserved to win and 0-0 would have been a fair result.
The fans are losing faith in Monk but you know what......I reckon the players HAVE LOST faith in him. His team selections, his tactics, his substitutions,no quality back up striker........
It's early and we have a lot of great players, we just don't have a team. When we first came up we had a bunch of average , low payed players ... But a great team .We need someone to mold these good , high payed , players into a team and Monk needs a bit more time I guess. I tell you what though , I felt better about the team the first few seasons with that " Low budget team"
I wasn't going to post tonight but I've calmed down now Monk needs to sort this shower out because they couldn't pass, couldn't shoot, couldn't do anything really. My mate sitting next to me summed it up when he said they looked like a team of strangers that never trained together, let alone played together. Runs that stopped short as the pass went through, passes that missed completely, general lack of movement and invention. Awful, and I am worried because I just can't see where the goals are going to come from.
Monk is here to stay and if you think he is not will be very disappointed. Huw will stick by him through thick and thin even if we get relegated which is more favorable now than not. Huw will work very closely with monk more than he has been doing already and all we can do is hope they start to get things right. But monk is going nowhere and that is the right decision at this time.
We have not looked right ever since James Beattie was drafted in as Head coach and this is something we should look at.
I'm not calling for Monk's head - but he needs to re-assess how we play. We have lost our shape, our pressing, our passing and our creativity. Apart from that we are fine ...........
That is why its worth looking at the head coaches and try to find out what if anything has changed in the way we do things. I have mentioned James Beattie because he was the last head coach to be drafted in and consequently the same time as we have not been playing to our potential.....It's just a thought but we have to look at all avenues...
They made the decision to sack Laudrup and I'm sure they'll make the same decision with Monk if things don't improve quickly. He really is out of his depth and is not helped by the failure to get a quality replacement for Bony. Gomis is woeful....how the heck he played 90 mins in beyond me.
Laucrap was more than useless and was only heading one way. Monk still warrants time to fix things and i still believe he will.....
Not getting dragged into that old argument ....simple fact is that if the board had the guts to sack ML, they will sack again. To think that they will stand by and watch us get relegated, with all the money at stake, is ridiculous thing to say.
As long as we get enough points to finish 4th from bottom then it wont be a disaster. ...I think we will do that myself but i would love it if we got into the top half....
I don't think the team know what 'brand' of football we're supposed to be playing anymore. We're not tik-a-taka, we don't break quickly, we just seem to play slow methodical passes, hope for Monterro to get a cross in and hope our only man in the box Gomis can beat 4 defenders to it. Far too predictable..
