Hmm... hope you have a better time with your Liebherr white goods [I'm assuming].

Yup, seem to remember that someone on here had trouble so I assume it was you? Fingers crossed.

I think I mentioned some time ago I bought 3 Liebherr domestic fridges for the lab at about a quarter of the price proper lab fridges would have been. We never had any trouble with them at all.

You did. I don't quite understand it myself. These items were of Miele design and specification, manufactured by Liebherr for both Liebherr and Miele. The Miele models were identical apart from the name on the front. Of course, they were even more expensive.

Having spent 6 years on/off in white/brown goods retail, I was shocked at the poor quality. Plastic fridge and freezer baskets that went brittle and cracked in the cold temperature so that they couldn't take anything other than really gentle handling. The freezer was supposedly frost free. It wasn't in reality. The fridge thermistor malfunctioned and the fridge itself leaked for some 6 months but rusted the metal right through where the trickle of the water was. Right through the covering paint first, of course. Both door handles were so badly designed that I hesitantly predicted that they might not last. The freezer handle lasted less than 18 months, and the identical fridge handle was swapped over to it so as to save money, because the owners certainly weren't going to bother saving these white goods. Plus the spares were ferociously expensive. That handle lasted another year. Meanwhile, they were donated a 15 year old Bosch fridge while their Liebherr one was repaired, and the wife won't have it back in the house. It sits in the garage in bubble wrap. The old Bosch has been 100% trouble free so far.

Why did they buy them.? Blinded by the hype, I believe. Plus, the magazine Which told them they were excellent. They bought them sight-unseen, apart from the photo in Which. On arrival, one good look-over inside and out told me they weren't even worth considering. I couldn't tell the people because they were besotted with them at the time.
By all means use Which as a guide, but never consider it the gospel. And I'm really sorry that I can't personally recommend Liebherr white goods based on that experience. As someone might have said, one item could be considered unfortunate, two seems like negligence. I hope Chilco's experience is much more like normal practice.

Interesting that the instructions specifically state that it shouldn't be used for lab work! I guess that's more of a legal disclaimer than anything else. I had a Bosche which failed and was beyond economic repair after 5.5 years, so I guess it is a question of probabilities. An item may be 99.9% reliable but that is scant consolation if you buy the one is a thousand. Anyway, mine looks very nice, seems to be a cut above the others I looked at it for build quality and hopefully shouldn't have rust issues as its stainless steel.

It wasn't even being unappreciated that was the worst part, but being completely out of the loop. The majority of time I'd find out things at the same time as the fans or even from other clubs. Furthermore, the only thing I post nowadays is match updates on a Sunday, so it's like, what am I doing? What's the point? Am I even needed? It's possible to update Twitter and Facebook at the same time, I've done it before. It only gets a bit tricky if there's like 3 goals in two minutes...

I believe Southampton already have a Facebook page.

Did he go to her gig in his Cars?

I got that impression from your posts. They didn't even seem to be aware that you existed. It's a cruel way to tell you bugger off, but that's what I think they were saying. Perhaps its better if you did.

Nasty crash for Carlos Sainz Jr in the F1 practice. Airlifted to hospital but is conscious and responding to questions.

Former Conservative Chancellor Geoffrey Howe has died. Very recently deceased Labour former Chancellor Denis Healey once said that debating with Howe was like being savaged by a dead sheep.
I had to look that up because I thought he'd said that Geoffrey Howe was like a sheep in sheep's clothing, but that quotation is generally attributed to Winston Churchill of Clement Attlee.

A cop accidentally shot a four-year-old girl while responding to an incident inside her home.

Her mother, Andrea Ellis, had cut her arm on some glass in her house near Columbus, Ohio, and her sister called 911 for help.

“She's bleeding all over the place!" her sister said in the call. "I need a paramedic!"

By coincidence, a cop on a routine call happened to be on the block. She called out to him for help.

"Sir, can you get me a paramedic?! I need a paramedic here!” she said.

But as the cop approached the house, events took a horrific turn. Cops said the family pet - a boxer-terrier mix named Patches, charged at the officer.

This is the mums FaceBook post about what happened. Badly came close to tearing up. It's kind of a long read. But I hope you read it.

What a catalogue of escalation there.! Next time use a bandage and leave the phone alone. Then the Lone Ranger doesn't have to ride up and shoot your offspring by accident.

BTW, did anyone notice that there was another school shooting yesterday in the USA.? Only one person died and 3 injured, which although tragic, is better than a dozen or so, if the tragedy on the numbers of deaths can be quantifiable.

Yeah, read about earlier Chilco. I've had some cracking views and listens of that particular Vulcan over the years and it is something you don't forget. I've also been quite lucky to get quite close up and personal with the odd Victor, which was just as iconic. Never saw the Valiant fly except on video footage, but it played its part too in the story of the V-Bombers. Happy retirement XH558.

They say there'll be another "final" one at the end of October. I'm beginning to wonder if it's not going to turn into something like the Status Quo "final" tour .......

Used to be mad about planes...had a picture of a Vulcan (not Spock :)) on my bedroom wall. Used to make Aerfix models and hang them from my ceiling....wonder what happened to them.
