So with completely made up rumours today in The Mirror that City will bid for Coutinho so that they have a replacement for Silva.

Would we sell to another PL club? With Sterling I think the general thought was that he's not that good and doesn't strengthen a team above us too much and that the money we receive made the deal worthwhile for us.

With Coutinho the fee is potentially very high but he really would strengthen those above us making our already difficult task even more difficult.

Is there a figure where it becomes viable for us to sell to another PL team?

Would he want to go? We did give him a shot as he was wasting away on Inter Milans bench and I feel that he is fond of the club. Money talks though and the right wage and signing fee is going to tempt him.

No. Different for Sterling as he was English so was never going to go abroad, where as Coutinho is far more likely to go to Spain as already played there.

If we had to sell then should be for huge fee and abroad.

I read it in the mirror too. We have a good chance of keeping Coutinho if we make the champion league next season.
So you think that's a realistic target for your new manager taking over a side in 10th after more than 20% of the season gone and not having the opportunity to overhaul the squad????

Coutinho is our one and only top player. We should do absolutely everything we can to prevent him leaving. Trouble is, I think coutinho is the type of player that would sulk if he didn't get his way so would it be worth keeping him?

Coutinho flatters to deceive he's often anonymous but is capable if moments of brilliance. He's a you tube player for me, he needs to add consistency to his game before he can be put in the same bracket as Silva etc.

Yea Dribs, don't be silly. We'll never catch them now, what's the gap to 4th now, 10-12 points?
Not what I asked clever ****.

I asked if it was a realistic target given where you're at as a team. As usual you deluded twats are going to heap pressure on your manager with unrealistic demands of immediacy. You're already doing it and the bloke hasn't even signed yet.

He has improved on this already imo, he has become more consistant in his alll round play and is capable of those moments, still work to be done though.

10th but what is it 4 points off 4th and that 4h place is occupied by a non normal top 4 meaning they are unlikely to finish there.

Do you think Chelsea will still get top 4 because they're in 16th....

The question has **** all to do with Chelsea though. It's about what you think is a sensible target for your new manager this season who's arriving in mid October

Heh, calm down. I see what you're saying but I'm just pointing out that it's not entirely impossible is it?

Sensible target is top four. Afterall, its a target, not expectation. The new man isn't going to get sacked if we finish outside the top four but why not target it?

Of course it's not impossible mate, same as it isn't for any side currently in the division. I just think that by setting it as a target then you're going to heap pressure onto the man, as he's going to take time to get his ideas and strategies over to the players, and if the 'target' is top 4 (however you put it it's still somewhat of an expectation once the target is set) then you risk rushing it, and him feeling under intense pressure to deliver short term results as opposed to a longer term strategy.

If it was me I wouldn't be arsed how this season panned out, as long as I saw some signs of a strategy and playing style emerging as the season progressed.
