So overall I am cautiously optimistic for the future, relieved and slightly disappointed. Not in his sacking but in that I wanted him to succeed.

He had his faults that I was quick to point out and I was in the Rodgers out camp for a long time. But he was the type that you genuinely WANT to do well. I could see him building on from 13/14, I could see him building a team of dedicated players, of getting more media-savvy. He'd show glimpses of what he knew and then take two steps backwards.

But for all he promised, he wasn't flexible enough. It was the same with Benitez (and I will not allow the following years to sway my opinion of him) and that for me was enough to send him packing. If you can't see your strongest team despite it being clear as day, you're either a) a genius, and everyone is insane, or b) wrong. And when it didn't work the first 30 times, it wasn't going to work the 31st.

I wish Rodgers luck and I hope he does well. Maybe one day he will drop the character bit and accept his mistakes before persisting with them as a show of stubbornness. Maybe one day he'll realise his strongest squad or how to defend. That day I would gladly take him back.

But for now a new era and a new manager. Thanks Brendan, we'll take it from here.

New managers like to bring in their own guys dont they?

Everything is all over the shop atm anyway so we dont ****ing want continuity <yikes>
