Rafa's years before us have extensive experience. 4 or 5 clubs, Madrid Youth, a partnership with a football fitness coach that seen him work at various clubs for a few years too.

    just saying..

    Paul Joyce:-

    - Rodgers threatened to quit LFC if a deal for Allen was not sanctioned.
    - It is clear Rodgers has lost as much faith in FSG as they have done with him.
    - Rodgers held the view that when he has world class players, he can deliver top 4.

Glad FSG pulled the trigger quickly and decisively ... actually makes me have more belief in them as owners that they match up to the ambitions the club should have. This is Liverpool, we're one of the biggest clubs in the world and it began to feel like Rodgers was dragging us down to a level below.

Everybody involved, players and fans, then finally the board ended up doubting Rodgers managerial ability, I think a lot of the time the players he sent out onto the pitch didn't believe in the advice and tactics he'd given them and were probably straining at the leash to play a different way, especially those he continually insisted on playing out of position every time they played, but just about managed to stay disciplined, but it was discipline with inferior strategy.

I think a few more years at a lesser club would have benefitted him more than coming to us although he will be a better manager for the experience and shouldn't have any difficulty finding another club. Gone are the days when a younger, more unknown quantity manager can step in at a big club and find success like in the 70s, 80s, 90s, which is how it was kinda sold to fans when he signed up through the PR and his statements. As a club if you want to compete at the sharp end of the game now, at the top table, you have to bring in proven managerial quality nowadays since the pace of the game/industry is so fast and there are so many more competitions and games to prepare for. Hopefully that's what FSG have lined up.

I don't wish the guy any ill will at all. I think he tried his best and it fell way short. It's just a bit sad and disappointing that he didn't turn out to be The ONE, the manager who would bring bag the glory and success to the club and that elusive league title.

So then. Who will be The ONE to take The ONE to Number ONE ??

To be honest most Southampton fans would find the demise of Rodgers amusing. However, I would reiterate my comment that Rodger's poor attitude towards Saints with a comment which need not have been said was pretty unprofessional. We are used to so-called bigger clubs poaching our better players and can only imagine what kind of club we might have mad had we retained our better players. That said, the likes of Arsenal and Man Utd have been frequent destinations for our better players and I cannot recall either Ferguson / Moyes / Van Gaal or Wenger making comments about having "no sympathy" for Southampton. It was obvious that Rodgers was making a rod for his own back with such remarks and whilst Shankly is notorious down in Hampshire for comments made in the 1960;s referring to Southampton as a pub team, I don't think he ever demonstrated the kind of arrogance displayed by Rodgers. Many managers of other clubs come across as pantomime villains and everyone outside the "big four" take their remarks with a pinch of salt, Rodger's attitude towards Saints smacked of arrogance so perhaps you can appreciate why it is fun to gloat in this instance.

I am not sure if Liverpool will ever dominate English football quite as they did in the 70's and 80's but I think the removal of Rodgers will ultimately be to the benefit of your team.

It's also expected that existing set up (committee) will remain. FSG's original model will be untouched.

It was reported on Talksport that Rodgers had a fractious relationship with the owners especially over player signings. Whether this means he was stopped from signing players he wanted, or objected to some of the ones the "committee" wanted we will never know.

Why thankayou. So Rafa has bean around a fair bit before us.

Klopp has done great with Dortmund, he appears to be a very good manager.. but this is new territory for him. It's the norm for Ancelotti, in fact he may see us as beneath his level of job <whistle>

  17. Does that even make sense? Why Giggs or Neville? What link is there to Klopp?

TBF the previous 4th place club (Man Utd) has had twice the net spend over the last 4 years, 5 times the net spend the last year, and twice the wage bill

Don't see why Rodgers comment has got you so hot under the collar, as it's true. Nobody held a gun to Southampton's head, they ultimately made the decision to sell certain players, why should Rodgers have any sympathy.
