Like I said in the other thread, I wish him well for the future.

Given all the rumours and talk this last week, I think it's fair to say that this isn't a snap decision on the back of a few games. Also given that I thought we played alright today and it certainly wasn't a sacking in reaction to a poor display/result (Stoke last season, for example) would suggest that this has been in the pipe line for a while and that they've got someone lined up.

I'm hopeful they wouldn't be patiently dotting the i's and crossing the t's the last few weeks for Fat Sam =/

Onwards and upwards from hereon in, I hope.

    Good luck to him. <hug>

Rodgers came with a clear philosophy of attacking, possession based football. It's a shame he didn't stay true to it - hopefully he returns to it.

It was coming, nobody can say you weren't patient with him. It will be interesting to see what happens now. Will Chelsea panic and sack Jose? Will Brendan go to Sunderland?

Everton have just announced they're extending Martinez's contract another 5 years after exceeding the club's expectations for today's game

Don't think he's available. Though you could do with a few miracles...

Maybe with the spotlight on Mourino, they thought they better make the decision now, just in case Chelsea try to high jack any potential candidates.

Just been talking to my mates.

Although I thought he should because of the situation we are in and the amount we have spent - I still feel bad for the bloke.

He's not a horrible bloke and we were very close to winning the league under him.

Had he not spent badly and we kept a couple of players then we would not be in this situation now.

I think somewhere in there is a good manager but it just hasn't worked out and he's reached a cul-de-sac.

    Thanks for your efforts Brendan.

I know it's The Metro but,

Jurgen Klopp has signed a three-year contract to succeed Brendan Rodgers as Liverpool manager, according to reports.

The former Borussia Dortmund boss will replace Rodgers after a series of poor performances.

The news of the deal is set to be announced today, according to Bosnian news outlet Pravdabl.

Presumably, the news will be announced after the Merseyside derby match against Everton and they state that Klopp will replace him even if they beat their rivals.

Klopp arrives at Liverpool with a glowing reputation and will bring assistant Zeljko Buvac with him.

Buvac is Bosnian himself and Pravdabl claim that they have been allowed to exclusively break the story.

This has come off the back of a half decent result.. which means that's it's definitely not a knee jerk decision.

I wonder if the board said at the start of the season, we'll see where we are come the Internationals and 8 league games plus a few cup and European games and unfortunately results and mainly performances haven't been up to scratch.

I loved the seasons under Rafa, but that season under Rodgers with SAS was by far the season I enjoyed the most in my life time even if we didn't win anything. Will always be remembered in for that for me <ok>

  16. Thank you to Brendan Rodgers for the time and effort he put in. Won't forget the 2013-14 season for a long time. Shame it didn't work out and I wish him all the best in the future.

122 games, 151 conceded... pretty much sums up Rodgers' defensive vulnerabilities.

Personally, I think they didn't sack him in the summer simply because there wasn't any option available, or at least the desired option.

Combined with the fact that despite large outlays on Firmino and Benteke, the net spend was only £10m and we hired some cheap staff in SOD and Gary Mac...
