Burnham On Crouch
Read today that if Liverpool let Rodgers go, he would be snapped up by Newcastle, which means that McClaren would be free. Not talking about costs but seeing how we played in the short time he was with Harry here, would anyone want him to take over from Chris Ramsey? I appreciate it is all hearsay and connect but just interested in your views.

Given how well we played when he was here, it would be great to have him back...but would love to see Ramsey still very much in the fold, either as assistant manager or keep Ramsey as manager with McClaren as support. Either way would take one huge step of humility from one party to support the other, but it would be nice to see.

Fans said it was set up by a user of the Sunderland Message Board "to give Mrs Advocaat a big thank you for giving us another year of the little general".

Would welcome McLaren back but can't see it happening. I think he'll be gone if they lose to Norwich

Dick already gone.

Sack race: Which Premier League manager will be the first to lose their job?

The front-runners
It's perhaps not the greatest surprise that bottom-feeders Sunderland are the bookies' current favourites to make a change in the dugout.

Pressure: Advocaat's side are rock-bottom of the league and out of the Capital One Cup

Dick Advocaat is currently 6/4 at Paddy Power to be the first to go with the Black Cat's 4-1 loss at home to Manchester City in the Capital One Cup the latest heavy defeat in a season which has seen them pick up just two points from six Premier League games.

The Black Cats boss initially decided to quit the club after guiding them to safety last season, only to perform a U-turn and sign a new one-year deal.

Under-performing: Rodgers' Liverpool side are in a poor run of form

Pressure has been mounting on Brendan Rodgers in recent weeks, with last night's penalty shootout win over League Two side Carlisle doing little to silence his critics. The Northern Irishman can be backed at 13/8 to be first to go, as rumours that former Chelsea and Real Madrid boss Carlo Ancelotti has been sounded out as a replacement.

Steve McClaren has only been in the Newcastle job since the summer, but there are already talks of a crisis at St James' Park. Like their north east neighbours, the Toon have only picked up two draws in the Premier League and were sent crashing out of the Capital One Cup by Championship side Sheffield Wednesday this week.

The former England boss is only 5/1 to be next for the chop.

Safe for now
Tim Sherwood oversaw a turbulent summer at Villa Park, with Christian Benteke and Fabian Delph among the high-profile departures and his side have made a spluttering start to the Premier League season, only recording one win so far, making him fourth favourite to go first.

Exits: Sherwood saw several key faces leave this summer

Chelsea's poor start to the season saw Jose Mourinho's odds to go first tumble earlier this month, but as the Stamford Bridge ship settles, his odds have begun to go out. He is now 25/1 to go next.

I would hate to see Maclaren back. Not sure why we would want either him or Advocaat - we are 3 pts off the playoffs and scoring goals (which we didn't do under Maclaren's coaching btw)

I think clearly we still have a fair way to go, but we are far from out of it. All teams in this league get spanked - but yesterday proved that we do have strength in depth, resilience and a will to do well - and against based on yesterday's performance suggestions that the manager has lost the dressing room seem wide of the mark.

Given where we are in the table despite setbacks, and the need for a period of stability my vote is that we continue with the manager.

I do hope we can start to defend though.

I'm with you that we should stick with CR but I can't see us near the play-offs unless we improve dramatically defensively. That probably means the Owners need to fund a new and decent RB, a CB, and a Keeper in January unless Smithies or Lumley show they are up to it. Green isn't these days.

Smithies is. I've defended Green in the past but his form for a long time hasn't been good enough.

McLaren is a world class assistant/coach but not a manager IMO, like Ramsey.

Spot on .................... I. for one thought McLaren would be the right choice to take over from Harry. The team seemed to be reacting in a positive way with him with us but after seeing his work at Newcastle, my head is clearing seeing that he is NOT a manager but a number 2, like CR.

Not sure why people are comparing Ramsey with McClaren. The latter bequeathed us the best organised QPR defence for many years and a record run of clean sheets. The former has tactics that are shipping an average of 2-3 goals per game.

Paul Clement seems to be getting the job done at Derby though?
