Absolutely gutted by the news. I genuinely think he was none of the best managers we've had. Real man's man, straight talking Gentleman, who's been let down by the same weak leadership and substandard players. Gutted. Thanks to him for trying and would love to hear the real story behind it all, not that we ever will as I think he has too much class to throw mud.

Uncomfortable to hear, but he says nothing wrong, in fact he is on the money with what he is saying.

Very disappointed by this news. It's madness really. Yesterday and the Spurs game started to see the best football from Sunderland I had seen in a long time. Bringing in new players takes time on most occasions. Dick was a man of passion and I believe he was very good for our club. Just wish he had stayed. I think the clubs hierarchy need to look inward for another mess we are in. You can't get people to do the job with their hands tied behind their back.

The situation we are in now means there is only one option.......Big Sam. On past record you can't bring in Dyche etc with little or no experience. It hasn't worked before and I feel it won't again. Sunderland has now got to be the hardest job in football. Huge internal problems, unfavorable location. **** players on big money.....who's going to come on board now? Surprised no announcement about Congerton. If it's big Sam then Congerton is gone in any case as he will want it all his own way...and rightfully so...

Still don't think we will be relegated but would have preferred the season to be with Dick....

Is Neil Lennon a big enough tw*t to take it on and sort the players out?

PS; no he wouldn't be in my top five choices either but I'm struggling to think who will accept it.

PPS; has DA left us for a better man? Is Cocu here tomorrow?

    Small club syndrome <whistle>

That would be very hard to take mate, I don't want you to go down but that appointment would definitely swing me <laugh>

There was an interview only this week with De Boer, talking about him still fancying the NUFC job some day.

With that in mind you'd have to believe you have a decent shot of getting him in now if you offer him a load of cash and free reign to shape his own squad.

Having said that, you promised the same to Di Canio and your chairman didn't have the bottle so perhaps not.

How about Rodgers....would be a very shrewd appointment imo. Have to wave a lot of cash at him like but I would if I was Ellis Short.

Look at the other thread mate, not sure anyone is too impressed with the idea. De Boer would be an interesting proposition if we could get him.

Don't think he is responsible for signings. Anyway, De Boer would be a good shout for you guys. As would Sham ****adyce. He was crap with us (who isn't) but has been decent enough elsewhere.

Be interesting to know how much influence he has over signings. Anyway, failure at a club like Liverpool doesn't mean a manager's useless, he had them playing brilliantly a couple years ago and was excellent for Swansea too. (I don't subscribe to people saying one player made him look good, it's a convenient argument that is used when people feel like it).
Didn't see that thread mate. I'm struggling to think of too many options, De Boer would be a dream for any premier league club outside the top 4. Allardyce or Dyche would be an acceptance that once again the only aim you'll ever have is survival. Is that something people want? Should have higher aspirations imo.

Dick seemed like a top man, and i thank him for his time at the club.
My only complain about him though is his constant refusal to give Watmore a chance. He hasnt even made the bench lately ??? Strange.

Hard to say! What the fans want and what Short want don't seem to match up at times. Though I'm sure he has the club's best interests at heart.

Tees...I can only think Dick didn't want the kid playing full games in a struggling team which can have an adverse effect on young players, I definitely think he is worth a go but feel Dick was protecting him. Though I could bbc e completely wrong.

I am gutted by Dick''s departure. Nothing to add to that. Best chance we've had in years.

I understand about him not starting, but why not a place on the bench?
Loftus cheek can get game time for Chelsea and Watmore won the Prem U21 player of the year award ahead of him.
Hes 21 now so its not as though hes a kid. I fear we will lose him cause at this age he really needs to be playing week in week out to progress.

    It's a difficult one.
Dick has pulled out so who is going to fill the hole?
Just hope whoever gets it is a big man with a pair of bollocks to get this club back on track
