I agree to some extent - he's not an ideal fit and he's not my number 1 choice.

But how can anyone turn their nose up at him...

How can you not?

Morales come before anything else, the guy is a grade A ****! Appointing him is probably the only thing that would stop me watching Liverpool!

Why do you "need" to be there, will your club cease to exist if you are not there (to fair weather supporters maybe).
We all "want" our clubs to be at the top, but to say they "need" to be there is stupid (unless from a personal point of view it will stop you from supporting them).

<laugh>

Well.....we need top get top 4 finishes on a regular basis because a few seasons on the trot in the competition would attract better players and generate more money.
We need to be near the top or better still at the top of the premier league on a regular basis because its good for club moral and worth a good few bob the nearer the top you finish.
We need to start winning trophies again to justify the outlay on players and to quench the thirst for success our supporters want.

Hope that goes a long way to explaining the plight of a club other than your own

No offence but jose probably wouldnt want to go for you guys and even if he did you would find a hard time turning him down. Lets look at some facts...

This guy is a serially winner. He has not had a great record recently but hes still been winning stuff. Even last year he won the pl.

2nd yes we are bottom half mid tablong right now but we are only 8 games into the season. Hell even one of the front runners in klopp was in the relegation zone well into the 2nd half of the season. Talk about giving someone a chance to turn it around.

Jimmy and i dont think mourinho would be your first choice but given a choice between him and someone like monk etc are you saying you wouldnt take him.

I think you guys are letting your personal dislike of him get the better of you just like how we hate rafa even if he did okay/ on par for us. Mourinho might talk too much and you still might not like him even if he wins a few cups (might change if he won a league) but at least he would instill a winning mentality

As for billy who says hes not the right fit and image for the club, if he won stuff with you i bet you wouldnt care, sort of how suarez is a **** but you all love him cause he was a fantastic footballer who took you guys to better things

I'm not sure "unrequited" is the correct term here. I know billy used it first, but how can a club show its love for the fans?
Cheaper tickets?
Stop pissing about and start winning things again? <laugh>

Seriously: I've been a fan for over 50 years now, I've seen the highs and the lows. The highs were as good as you can get, the lows are only low in comparison. Of course I wouldn't embrace mediocrity, but I would accept it- in the sense that if mediocre is what we are then it wouldn't make me love the club any less.
Doesn't stop me being bloody frustrated by it though.

I knew you were old Saint but didn't think you were actually a saint :emoticon-0102-bigsm...Are you now officially the grandfather of this house???

Ah right, so all clubs "need" to be in the same place, gotcha <ok>

Don't pretend there wasn't once a two way love between club and fans many moons ago saint, it started and ended with Shank's era and briefly returned during Kenny's first tenure as manager.

So the rest of the time during the past half a century the love has been requited, during those 50 years you've seen owners, players, managers come and go but the supporters in the main are supporters for life.

I said on here a long time ago my first game was the derby in '62 when we'd just come up from the 2nd division (but I was quite young at the time:)).
I don't know if I'm the eldest- I don't think so, but I'm not naming any names.

I can't speak for supporters of any other clubs or even on behalf of anyone other than myself, but if I had an "I don't give a **** where we finish and for how long it lasts" I'd be a waste of space.

Ambition is a big part of football whether from supporters or those directly involved with clubs, those managers and players that don't show any ambition usually end up unemployed or playing amateur.<whistle>

Just going to pop over to the Bournemouth board and tell them they "need" to be in the top 4 or they should go support someone else, I am sure they will welcome this information <whistle>

Well, I'll let whoever else wants the title step up. But it's good to have "experience" on the board lol. Are you also or were local too?

I'm a self confessed armchair, would love to be otherwise but it is what it is.

I wish you well on your quest and hope your journey between here and there is safe.

<ok>

I think not long after the site started up Page, dave and I had a little reminisce about our origins- it might have been before you were on here.
I was brought up off Goodison Road, my dad and uncle were both Blues. They took me to the game mentioned above obviously in the expectation that I'd follow in the family tradition. Everton were the bigger team at the time, of course, and me being an awkward little sod immediately went for the underdog. Haven't looked back since. :)
Sadly these days I am more of an armchair (or barstool), fan than I would wish but as you say, it is what it is.

How did you get involved with such mediocrity, then?

Think I rember some of that. Maybe repeated. I've also Said before how. Came from a rugby mad family. Parents divorced and Uncle and Aunt took us in until we got sorted. My Uncle Kevan was born and bred Scouser and horrified I had no knowledge of football (at 7 years old...should have been playing for 5 years apparently lol) taught me to play, dispaired that I was ****e...gave me a shed load of memorabilia from the seventies, those leather flags etc..

And because he was more of a Dad than my own it stuck...

Ironically (and I've said it in here before) my first ever football match in the flesh was when my Dad got jealous, wrapped a Sunderland scarf round my neck and took me to Roker to watch them against Liverpool. I sat with my legs between the fencing in the home stand as Rush scored a brace in a 4-0 win. I cheered and my Dad was very embarrassed.. didn't take me there again lol..

Kevan pissed himself laughing when he heard...

So armchair yes, but plastic no because I didn't realise I had joined us in the middle of the glory lol....

Abramovic will probably make sure he is the next russia manager and pay his silly wages on their behalf lol.
