Confidence matters a lot when it comes to penalties. If he'd taken a lot of penalties and converted the vast majority he would look more confident. How many penalties has he taken then? I don't care if people disagree. It's only important if they give a logical argument.
Is that on Springhead? i remember Freddie Ramsden going on about Gray Gelder, scored goals for fun for Ainthorpe but didnt make it. Yet Bob Hatton was rejected by City, played in the same team, and had a good pro career.
Deano hit good penalties, roof of the net, always plenty of power, I'm sure he missed penalties for us, but don't recall too many!
It's what we've been crying out for, for years, Fryatt's probably the closest we've had in recent years!
I dont think Hernandez would be very good at making up his mind at the last 0.01 of a second. I would kick the ball low just inside the post to the right. That means you have no chance of hitting the ball over the bar and you don't telegraph your placing to the goalkeeper. If you are playing at a high level you need more than one penalty taking method.
Pete give it a rest. Hernandez is a Number 9. He plays up front. He'll have scored more goals since the age of 8 than the rest of our team combined. He takes pens, just like a good number 9 should. He missed. Messi has a terrible record at pens. I was Hull Schools Penalty champion as a kid. I know my onions I do.
Referees would make players retake a penalty when they dummied or delayed in some way but they seem to allow it now.
Thanks. Def played with him. I travelled from Hull to Goole to play after a school match in the morning. 10s. for my troubles.
Yes it is Springhead, Fred Ramsden always arranged a Pre-season friendly for Ainthorpe YC against City Jnrs.
