No idea, and if that's an attempt at fishing, you need to change your bait significantly <laugh>

  2. But we had Gerrard (and Carragher) offering those things during Nolan's better years.

I agree but the more the merrier <ok> I was only putting forward scousers who are still playing [because you posed the question] not that I would necessarily have had them over other players. Had we not just had Lambert, I'd have added him in as well.

You shouldnt, but people do all the time. Human nature, its only if you get to know them that your opinion may change

That's probably because it's a misconception that's been propagated over eons. My mother nearly died having me, so she wasn't going through that again.

  9. Fair enough. My response to that then would be that he's past it and no better than what we have <ok>

Being an armchair fan I dont know what the set up is at LFC or EFC with regards to local talent at a very young age. Do they put as much effort into scouting or partnering with local school and youth leagues or integrate their academies with the same? If so then you can only point to a couple of things that are going wrong..either the youth coaches aren't good enough, the talent is a bit dry at the moment or there is a problem with young lads not playing as much football as before. Have the local leagues seen a drop in participation, if not that rules out the last one.

Of course costs, lack of facilities in local areas can directly effect it too. But should that not be where the clubs step in and make up the difference of what is lost in terms of local authority funding?

If they actually still want that local connection of course...

  11. I recall you saying, my mrs nearly died with our first two too <ok>

Doesn't alter how single children are spoilt though, parent(s) can afford more because there is only one of you ;) <whistle>

  12. Therein is another problem; no ball games signs and modern days communities preventing families from allowing children to play out on the streets etc. A lot on here will have grown up in a day when, as a child, you got up and had breakfast before ****ing off out for the day only returning home once the street lights came on. During in that time, you probably kicked a ball against some garage doors, a old abandoned house or on a field between fairly appropriately place trees. None of that happens now, kids can only play football in the appropriately setup environments assuming their parents can afford to pay for them to go. even then, its only once or twice a week appose to every day of the week like we used to.

The problem you have is that once the flow of local youngsters hitting the first team stops, then lads having the option of joining either academy at the outset of their training, are likely to pick the one that they perceive will give them the best opportunity to progress. So it could become self perpetuating.

  15. whether warranted or not, we've got a reputation for playing youngsters, just not that many of them are scouse.

    Have you?

You've got a reputation for buying expensive younger players, but I wouldn't say that you're seen as a club that 'grows their own' at all tbh.

  17. Shame human professionalism and decency as decline so much (both instances with my mrs were cause by the doctor)

Cheers for you sympathies although not needed, she survived to have more of the little ****ers <laugh> We've also discussed this (in detail) before <ok>

    Anyway, back to the topic...

  18. Whether we bought them or not, we still play them <doh> (check what I said)

We didn't buy Kelly, Wisdom, Flanno, Spearing, Rossiter, etc though <ok>
