How do these NDA's work? Is it a case of deciding how much it's worth to keep quiet, or how much it's worth not to go to Court or what?
Funny how people change their opinions, admittedly a lot of people on the threads below were new & some have disappeared since, but the best one is the 3rd link, with people crying out for Adebola! http://www.not606.com/threads/so-if-anyone-else-had-guided-us-to-one-win-in-10.133407/ http://www.not606.com/threads/strength-in-depth-my-ar-se.120145/#post-2176028 http://www.not606.com/threads/tame-timid-toothless-tigers.112785/#post-1977395
Barmby is one of us, a Hull lad, will never get my head round people like Happy Tiger and their comments attacking him, you can't support one of our own yet you go on about plastic fans? You're the plastic mate i'm afraid, actually a 'plastic turd' in your own words
I'm not attacking anyone. Naturally the plastic turds we attract now think that of course. He wasn't one of our own until the end of his career. That's not a dig, that's fact. Did he have some good games for us? Yes of course he did. Did he want to go straight into management? No. He did not. For very good reason. He wasn't ready for it. Was he a short bloke with a short temper? Hell yes. It's partly why he was a cracking little player. No I don't subscribe to the worship he gets from some with their tongues firmly in his arse. In my view Deano is more Hull than St Nick yet look at the abuse he gets. His self appointed reps on here churn out the same old ****e about him like they're mates. It's sad but funny.
He played for us for eight seasons, he self evidently didn't join us at the end of his career, he spent more of his career with us than he did with any other club.
Nick should never have taken the job in the first place on a full time basis. But that is another story.
Only read the first Nick was a rabbit in the headlights. He's always been ruthless and self centred, you need that as a pro. Which is why he was a good one but he was too ruthless and was after the money. In management you have to be more rounded. He cant do that and he couldnt when with us. He was respected in the game but not liked. Not many top English players have made good managers, certainly not of his generation too much money on top of everything else. And the bollocks about not been able to sign anyone is bollocks. His bezzy mate who posted on ere said he was happy with the squad and believed in them. It was only when the **** hit the fan were the excuses played out. He was also going to tell all and wouldnt be muzzled, too much honour pride integrity etc. Then he did what he's always done took the money and ran. I heard he does a bit of coaching at Wyke to keep himself busy.
(I accidently posted this reply earlier under Page 1) Barmby was an attacking midfielder who gave 100% effort every time he pulled on a City shirt. Countless times we saw him getting stuck in against opposition midfielders/defenders (usually much bigger than him) trying to win the ball & to then go forward with it. If he could instill that mentality into the current squad I'd have him back as manager tomorrow. He was forced to take the managers job by the Allams after Warren Joyce did a last minute U-turn. He stepped up & was then disgracefuly sacked by the Allams on some ludicrous trumped up charge of misconduct.
He didn't even say he wasn't allowed to sign anyone. He said 'we need to be a bit cuter'. That was it. It wasn't even a tense interview, like most of his predecessor's were. There was a while on here where we were listening back to his interviews to try and find what he'd actually said to piss them off so much. But if Allam says it was a tantrum worthy ot a sacking that's what his fans will remember it as. But more importantly than any of that, even the Allams themselves don't believe it was the right decision on reflection. They've tried to approach Barmby and asked him to appear at events and admitted they got it wrong. It's embarrassing for the likes of Happy, claiming he was consistent throughout when he never had a bad word to say about Barmby until the Allams changed his mind for him. The posts are all there. As is the thread where he apologised for being such a **** and going out of his way to wind everyone up, yet here we still are.
Happy Tiger doesn't understand what Hull City and being a fan is that's clear going on his support for the idiotic name change and bizarre claims about 'plastic fans' so no wonder this fact is beyond him too
Do you really expect a manager to say he didn't believe in his players? What manager is going to come out and he doesn't think his players are good enough and they won't get us in the play offs. I am not saying Barmby was a top class manager, but I was more than happy with him as a manager. It is nearly impossible to compare him and Bruce as one was allowed to sign whoever he wanted. It worked out fairly well with Bruce, for the first two years anyway.
Weird that I've seen this thread today. Either him or a good lookalike were behind me at the humber bridge this morning with some young looking lad in the passenger seat and I wondered what he was doing/where he was going. It might not have been him but luckily he didn't turn off towards Grimsby. Headed off towards Scunny actually.
From what I see NB hasn't had much of a chance to prove whether he would have turned into a good manager or not. He stepped into the job to help the club out, and for whatever reason the Allams didn't back him or trust him to sign players. Probably at the time he wasn't experienced enough as far as the Allams were concerned to get the club into the EPL, and the appointment of SB I guess did turn out to be the right decision. What I am very uncomfortable with is the way the Allams got rid of him, which was not right, and obviously was a hard pill to swallow as far as Nick was concerned.
He got a far better record than SB with absolutely zero budget. SB hs spent millions and done worse. Barmby is statistically the better manager.
