It may just be that we are going to have one of those seasons where we are better away than at home precisely because offensively our players are not yet good enough to unpick a massed well-organised defence and defensively not good enough to deal with a fast well organised counter-attack. Let's remember where we all predicted where we would end up this season. Hands up the ones who confidently predicted that we would walk this league? No did n't think so.

Considering the transfer window we should be walking this league.

Although we have bought a keeper who seems a good shot stopper but cant catch a cold.

The only game we have performed well this season is Rotheram and that’s at least partly probably down to the weakness of the opposition. 1 decent performance in 7. And we were bad against Carlisle as well.

We are lucky that there are some **** keepers in this league

But due to a combination of 4 or 5 goals we’ve scored due to comical goal keeping and because there is such quality in this team we are still in a pretty decent position.

Hopefully Ramsey was saving Faurlin for Saturday but he needs to stop acting Carlie big potatoes and get Sandro in the team quick. Would be interested in anyone can defend his logic that Sandro cant walk into the team (so not even good enough to get on the benchj last night?! Because he is fit enough for 45 mins) but Tozser and Angella can?

We’ve got Fer to come back still but considering Ramsey’s bias against anyone that’s good or made a name for themselves he’ll probably pick Grego-Cox ahead of him or something.

Where also is Yun? This formation needs attacking full backs who overlap and create space and the holding midfields to get us going.

Sooner he get’s Sandro, Faurlin and Yun into this team. It wont mater whether he is a good manager or can think on his feet. The quality in the team should make us bankers for promotion

Oh and just watched the highlights on sky's website. We werent unlucky to not get a penalty. It was more Henry missed an open goal.

At present we lack someone who can boss midfield, a go-to player who will dictate play and make things happen. Everything is laboured and with no proper pattern of play we end up conceding midfield and struggle against what, so far, has been mid-table opposition at best.

I fear when we meet the better teams, starting with Hull on Saturday we could be embarrassed. Ramsey will find himself under serious pressure if we slide into the bottom half of the table in the next few weeks. That may end up giving Charlie the perfect excuse to leave in January, as if he needs one...

That £30m not realised is only a good investment if we get promoted. We declined to shift on a goalkeeper earning something close to £50k a week. I'm sure Sandro isn't far off that wedge either.

I would have been happy with a season or two of rebuild having offloaded the expensive big names, but we don't have that luxury now. My inclination to give it some time feels like a luxury too. The upside is that, although this league is very competitive it is also ****, and quality players properly organised should have few problems.

"Properly organised" IS the key.....and Ramsey is completely right, when we hit our stride, we were definately the better team by far.
However we are so so prone to be hit for a killer goal (in fact 2 per match...ALWAYS)...CR is saying the caused by individual mistakes...certainly the last 4 goals we have let in have been through indiviual mistakes..he is right

When the team plays...about 15 minutes on Saturday, and again about 15 -20 minutes last night, they are impressive....but each time they have been stopped in their tracks by a stupid stupid goal.
CR can see a good team in there (he probably sees a great team at Harlington), as yet he cannot get them doing it on the pitch for 90 minutes....that is the problem.

IF (and that is the problem) IF he can get it sorted he has a very good team

I can understand a few nerves.

I just don't get that line of thinking. For years I saw GK's who have been waiting & waiting for their chance to come, go in and play really strong - making no fukk ups. In the last couple of years though it seems that GK's who come in are full of "nerves" apparently and are worse than the off-form guy who's gone off for whatever reason. Generally speaking it was rarely like this in the past. They wait and wait for weeks & months to get their chance between the sticks. They should be absolutely 100% ready for their shot when they get it because they know it might not come again. They should be chomping at the bit and really self-assured and confident.

Sorry Wats but that nerves excuse is a load of tosh.

Deeply unimpressed with the two Watford signings so far. Angella had a torrid time tonight and Grant Hall deserves to regain his place imo.

Faurlin and Doughty should replace Toszer and the woeful Henry for Saturday.

We have the right midfielder in Doughty who makes the midfield flow much better than Henry and Toczer who are like two Woodentops I would play Doughty and Faurlin and at the back Angella and Hall together and only because he has stupidly been made captain play Onohua at right back personally I think he is a liability I'd play Yun at left back and at home play Mackie or Polter up front with Charlie, two very disappointing home games and not happy that Ramsey did not change tactics from Saturday!

Agree as well however with our team we should be playing better. 1 up front at home against 2 poor sides? Benny is a coach not a manager and I don't expect us to do anything with him in charge. I have said this from day 1 and won't change my mind. I just hope all posters that believe in him won't turn on him when we don't make play offs. Once again we have played crap and we shouldn't be with that team.

It's really not. Some players relish the big occasion and will immediately step up, some take time to settle in. Darius Vassell was a crap club player but raised his game for England, loads of Irish players are ****e but do a good job in the big games for Ireland but then you get players who get their big chance and have a good CV but either can't do it or take a bit of time.

but they both looked a similar level last season. We are all different.

Just that he's a 25-year-old keeper with 270 senior appearances, which is quite rare, which makes me think he must be ok. If your source is the previous Huddersfield goalkeeper then perhaps he'd have an axe to grind.

Bit early to say gladwin looks ****e.
He hasn't had proper minutes since Cardiff, during which he was blowing out of his arse after 50 mins due to it being his first game back from injury.
He looks "****e" in the same way matty phillips looked "****e" at the start of his injury plagued tenure here.

Another good example of a player that didn't hit the ground running but clearly is very talented, which was all I was suggesting Gladwin is.

We cannot say players are s@@@ after 1-2 games. I remember Sir Les going out on loan at first because he was s@@@. Well that's what they said at the time.

Our problem at the moment is fairly easy to analyse. We're not defending properly. We will score plenty of goals even if we do only fire on all cylinders for 20-30 minutes a game but that is pointless if we don't sort out the defensive howlers. An old school manager would always ensure a solid back four before he worries about the offensive capability. The good teams have the ability to sneak a 1-0 win even when they play badly. However we do need to treat the opponents with respect. It may be that 3 wins on the bounce coupled with the relief that Austin and Philips are staying for now has led to overconfidence in the management. Just as it did on this forum.

I have watched the full 90 and have to say i see the point that many are making: Forest played us of the park, Blackburn looked poor but still better than us
Henry is fire fighting and don't agree he is useless at all
There are gaps all over the pitch and little quality
Could be a lot longer than we all think

Handling errors and accurate distribution are deficiencies in his game but that’s compensated with his positional sense and sharp reflexes which regularly stops dead-cert goals.

His recent captaincy of the team shows the influence and experience he has within the dressing room.

Having already saved two penalties, I will always remember the composure he showed to score our last penalty at Wembley in 2012.

The accurate distribution was far better than Greens, he threw to players, he could kick to players.....and he can kick along way too...one got to the oppo goalie, not ideal, but better than Green.

I think none of us are completely sure if he dropped the ball or whether it was a foul, we will have leave that one goal.
I thought he did OK.
