As we don't have access to the severance agreement any suggestions would be complete speculation. I'd hazard a guess that it's advantageous to both parties. For example, he may have accepted slightly less money, but he's not allowed to sign for a Premier League club for the rest of the season. That would allow him to play and earn more cash, but not at any cost to Spurs.
