The American equivalent, since we have so many Catholic institutions with club teams, is "the Little Sisters of the Poor."

I once helped run a kiddie robotics tournament which included a game between two girls’ teams: the Sacred Heart Crusaders and the Winchester-Thurston Hellfish of Doom. :emoticon-0137-clapp You may be able to guess which one I was rooting for.

Oh well. Meanwhile at least a few ex-Spurs are continuing to top the league. Another win for Chris Hughton's Brighton tonight makes it 6 wins and a draw out of 7 for them leaving them top at this early stage. And down a level in League One, Justin Edinburgh's Gillingham are also top. Also Leyton Orient top league 2, managed by Ian Hendon who played a handful of games for us after coming through the youth setup way back in the early 90's.

Seeing Man City's result v Juventus made me ask the question:-
Will the rest of the Premier League beat up on each other like last season giving Chelsea the trophy....this time giving it to City?

...and Ronaldo.8 goals in a couple of days.Pity we couldn't have swopped Adebayor for him!

Something like Noel Cantwell of United doing the same thing to Dave Mackay in a European game.He wasn't quite the same after that...........and I was at West Ham as Spurs were getting beat 4-0 and the news coming through that Dave had broken his leg again in a reserve game.
 
If you get enough players in the game going in to "take someone out," Keano-style (which still goes on), then we are going to see the sorry spectacle of a player with a broken leg, the foot twisted the wrong way.
 
He'd been looking good this season too. Thought he was MoM vs pool. Shame for Utd, and looking it maybe England next summer too.
 
Very reckless tackle. He totally chucks himself into it and has no control, following through heavily with his other leg.
Hope Shaw has a quick and full recovery. Not nice to see.
 
Feel for the lad, was having a good start to the season and is obviously one of the country's brightest prospects so it's gutting to see him pick up an injury that'll keep him out of the Euro's. Hopefully he makes a full recovery.

Interesting that Howard Webb didn't think it was a foul on BT Sport. I'm sure the defender would have got a lot of stick if he hadn't got across quickly and I saw it more as an accident than reckless. He definitely gets the ball cleanly with his right leg and the speed of the collision means he can't avoid contact with the other one - I can't see how that makes it reckless - surely defenders are allowed to run as fast as attackers? If the timing had been slightly different then Shaw could have trapped the defender's leg under his - would that make Shaw 'reckless' for running through too fast?

I saw it completely differently. He deliberately followed through with his left leg. It was reckless, dangerous, and uneccessary. Ok, maybe he didn't intend to badly injure Shaw, but that's the result of his recklessness!

It was the leap and follow-through that made it reckless. He can't control what he's doing, which is why he snapped Shaw's leg in two.

Graham Poll claims it was a red and a penalty in his column, which just shows that the officials don't really know what they're doing.
When you've got access to repeated replays from multiple angles and senior refs can't even come close to agreeing on what should happen, then there's a clear issue.
People will make mistakes during games, but when they're given an incident in the cold light of day, then they should be able to come to the same conclusion.
That one says red and penalty and the other says no foul at all is a bit ridiculous.

Agreed - especially since others are calling it reckless which is a yellow card offence.
I've said before that the Laws need to be clearer on this but the situation the defender found himself in was that he could get to the ball first but only by moving fast so that he would definitely collide with Shaw after the tackle. If that's clearly defined as a foul I don't have any issue with it but as I alluded to above if he had arrived about a tenth of a second earlier then he would have missed Shaw completely when taking the ball and Shaw would then have piled into him in an 'uncontrolled' way. If Moreno's leg had been broken would that have been a red card for Shaw?
