Theres been 3 managers.

Your post applies to Diego. It doesn't apply to the other two so much. The Atkinson United side was hardly terrible for one thing.

My assumption here is that you've based that on him winning two FA Cups...?

I wouldn't call an 80s football crowd sensible. So that's your entire point out the window.

It also happens to be certain supporters of that era who are struggling today. So this notion that the younger fans (Fergie joined nearly 30 years ago... Some are not so young) are only glory hunters is a bit dated.

Like calling every Liverpool fan between the 70s and 80s glory hunters. Despite suffering for the past 25 years now with next to no glory.

And then completely dismiss the numerous cups (FA Cup, League Cup, UEFA Cup and Champions League) Liverpool won during that period you labelled as "next to no glory".

I don't recall who said it but this is why you get zero credibility on these boards :)

I think that was another Utd poster <ok>

Not sure how you made that jump but OK.

I said it wasn't terrible. It wasn't.

Next to no glory. Its about right. Especially the past decade.

Very touchy though today. Why is that. Tough weekend <whistle>

.

Yeah, and like what you say goes.<laugh>

So you know those statues outside OT?, the ones portraying Sir Matt and Best, Law and Charlton?, are they important?, or are they of a forgettable time in the game because football only matters since the premier league was founded?

Your plasticity is growing by the day UIR.

So what was th capacity at OT when Fergie took over and what was it when he finished?

I'm under no illusions as to how **** we were, nor am I under any illusions as to how poor Man Utd were too. We were just ****ter :)

Eh? The holy trinity happened to play a huge part in one of United's greatest periods yet you seem to think they are forgettable...

First half you were both complete durge.

Second half I thought United played well and looked a decent side.

Fair assessments. These lot are just trying to make themselves feel better. Nobody is falling for it though. They did the same last year when they were pasted home and away too.

They started to play better once they went ahead but we started to put tackles in then too. I think both teams improved slightly but neither were as good as they should have been.

Man Utd were the better of the two sides but neither really deserved to win IMO, Liverpool deserved to lose more though (if you understand that <laugh>)

Who happens to lack credibility and spends his time making stuff up or believing the most negative stuff about the club <ok>

And per your previous point; what type of people made up the crowd back then and what type now? I'd suggest that in the top clubs, us included, the crowds of the 80's were made up much more of local working men who knew football and had an affinity with the club due to their locality. It's not the case now......The last time I sat at OT, I was surrounded by for

How can admitting that we were utter crap make us feel better? <laugh>

I think Utd will get top 4. Third or Fourth to be precise........but they didn't look that great against a very poor team, playing in a very strange way at the weekend. What part of that is unrealistic?

Ah stop, Im the one praising their achievements you're the one dissing football pre premier league.<laugh>

Dissing it press PL. Feel free to show exactly where that took place.

Fans in the 80s were morons. Not all but enough to have the whole viewpoint in football supporters changed and entire laws rewritten to cope with the idiots.

Football was fine, albeit there was an unsavoury drinking culture and violence could often triumph over skill and ability but the game wasn't too far away from what it is now. Some archaic rules were changed that went someway to ending one clubs dominance but all in all, its the same game, just quicker and with less hangovers.

Agree with that, they'll get top four because they are the best (ignoring the main trio) of the rest (aka; a bad bunch).

I said that would be the cause before the season started and I predicted fifth for us too.
