This isn't a knee-jerk reaction, because I've backed Bruce consistently since the day he took the reigns, but I now think we could find someone who could make more of what we've got.

The performances have been defensive for far too long and in this league (as well as the Premier League) you need a manager who also knows how to attack.

No point now, if we're not in the top six come Christmas I wouldn't complain if he was sacked, providing we got someone half decent in.

He's ****ing useless. Overweight piece of **** stealing a wage from our good club for a job he clearly has no ****ing idea how to do.

We should never have appointed him to start with.

I've not being one to call for Bruce's head but the squad should be performing better than it is given its quality. The league is still shaping up and we remain up at the top end but we'll be found out more often than not if we have more like today. I think his position will come under more pressure and scrutiny should we not be showing more improvement by the end of October. He needs to give his head a shake and let the squad play to its potential.

I disagree. Now would be the best time to make a change. It would give the right person almost a full season (and a transfer window) to change things.

Why do we have this same **** every time we lose? Yes we're playing **** by all accounts, but who do we get? Big Sam? I can see that being a great thread, ****ing long ball ****!
Ian Holloway? He'll sign 52 players, not know what to do with them & complain about it every week!
I'm sure there's a long list of other managers who are out there or even in a job, personally I think Phelan would get it if he went, but right now SB should be given the chance to get us back up, if we're looking like not being top 6 by Christmas then maybe he'll resign. I'd rather he call it a day than us. Will AA have the guts to do it? I don't see why not.

I feel exactly the same way Craig. In the past I've supported Bruce but am becoming increasingly disillusioned with his tactics and our poor performances over the past year. On paper we have a strong team but there is no cohesion or attacking threat...as typified by the first half today when we lucky not to be 3 goals down. We need to find a manager who as you say "knows how to attack" and motivate the team. I'm hopeful that the return of Maloney, Livermore, and Snodgrass, plus the addition of Diomande, and Diame's creativity, can give us that spark. Meanwhile Bruce is on borrowed time IMO.

I think Steve Bruce is only still in a job to spite the fans.

We have this debate a lot because there are a lot of bad performances.
Personally I would like to see someone like Gianfranco Zola. He did a great job at Watford and I thought they were unlucky not to go up under him.

Bruce has just had a transfer window, if we were gonna get rid now we might as well have done it the second we were relegated so a new manager could bring his own players in.

Moses, Clucas, Hayden, Maloney, Akpom, Diomande, Taylor, these are all Bruce's signings, if we're going to let him bring in his own players its pointless not giving him the time to play them how he intends.

That's why I said he should get until Christmas, that would give him sufficient time but also give a new manager a full transfer window if things weren't working.

I doubt he'd join a Championship club but Big Sam would be an excellent appointment for us.

I think we benefitted by having Bruce for the transfer window. There's no doubt he attracts decent players and I have no problem with any of his signings. I just think he doesn't have the tactical nous to use them properly.

The next two games will be a key indicator, I think, to what can be expected as a rule for the season.

Cardiff is another tough away game. Will we show maximum respect to them and once again sacrifice our attacking threat? What if they score early like Brighton? Are we flexible enough to deal with it? Should we just attack anyway? Be positive from the start?

And then at home to QPR. Another relegated team, another who will fancy themselves to be up there at the end of the season. Do we show them respect? We're at home, so do we call the shots? Will it be more of the same?

Let's be honest, there hasn't been much between any of our performances this season. We've been consistently sluggish and negative. If, after another limp defeat at Brighton, we deliberately set up in similar ways in these games (with similar results) then I would imagine that Bruce will find himself losing supporters, and more importantly, we'll find ourselves dropping towards mid-table.

It's all on Bruce. Can he get more out of them? Does he want to get more out of them?

I think it's time for a change, I just think he's run out of ideas, we are constantly changing formations but the way the team plays stays the same. There's no creativity or spark, we seem lost. I'm not sure who we'd get but a fresh approach would be the way forward

Dolan’s probably the only manager (in my time at City) I’ve demanded to be sacked and I’m far from the stage of demanding Bruce out. However, I do doubt that Bruce is capable of getting the best from his players whether it's tactical or motivational.

On paper, I feel we have the strongest squad in the division yet I still haven’t seen one performance this season that backs up that idea.

Sadly, I can’t really foresee any positive change to the pattern, although sooner or later, we’ll lose at home.

We need to see something from Bruce – we should be taking this division on.
