Whether your a royalist or not, today marked a day in history. Me I'm a royalist, and today I'm proud to see in this bit of history as I know in my lifetime this will never be repeated.
Whipdee ****ing doo. 63 years of doing **** all and getting paid millions doing it. ****ing stupid having a king/queen in this day and age. Why should they be treated so much better than anybody else? Just lucky that their dad was who he was and spunked his load in their mums fanny. Couldn't give a **** about them.
Yep I'd rather have our Queen as head of state than Putin, Assad or Blair and I can't stand all of the other money grabbing, self pretentious hanger ons...
That is absolute quality reasoning. Best laugh I've had all day. What's even funnier is that over here, the term "fanny" refers to the "wrong 'un".............hence our "fanny pack' is your "bum bag".
I fully understand where you are coming from, Shiny, and in many respects, I agree with you. But having a non elected, non political head of state has almost certainly ensured that GB/UK has had stable government for the last few hundred years and , even though we can all find fault with our country and it's governments, the system we have has ensured a very stable lifestyle for all of us. So while I am not a royalist, I can acknowledge that we have a very stable type of government because of the non political role performed by the monarch. Here is a fact that illustrates how stable we have been for around 1,000 years. When William the Conqueror had settled in to being king of England and had decided on which land he wanted as his own, he bestowed upon about 150 of his most trusted knights and their families, land and titles that ensured they would firstly continue to support him, but secondly would mean that they had little reason to be unhappy with him. Over 1,000 years later, these families are still among the wealthiest in our country. Find a landed gentry with a country pile and you will find an anglicised French name. Beaufort, Beaulieu, de Montfort are examples. And the Duke of Norfolk with Arundel castle is and has been the hereditary Earl Marshall of England for a thousand years and the highest ranked duke of the country. The Earl Marshall is the person who organises the coronation of a monarch. Can't get much more important than that eh? The very rich know how to safeguard their lofty positions through thick and thin. They continue to get richer even in times of financial problems where us plebs get hit for six, time and time again. End of rant!
Once she dies we should keep the monarch and the tourist attractions they own. However we should remove the large powers which they could potentialy have. They are good for tourism and better than having a president but the ability to declare war etc should be stripped from them.
God Save The Queen But when she dies or abdicates, please pass the crown straight to William, not to that Buffoon Charles.
When I was Shiny's age I thought as he did. I changed as I grew older to respect her and our monarchy. I also hope we stay with tradition and that Charles will be our next Monarch.
She could just as easily do **** all and demand everything under the sun. Instead, the Royal Family actually spend their entire time contributing to charity, and making a massive profit for the UK in terms of tourism v the cost of the Royals to the taxpayer. As much as it is elitist and against my usual views, I don't see any harm in it and I do see a lot of good in it.
I'm not a royalist, but I wouldn't want to be in her shoes. The royals are devoid of having any kind of meaningful life outside of public service. You might look at her and think that she is lucky to have been born into the Royal family, but she has had to dedicate her entire life to public service. She might be rich, but it's not like she can do much with it. She's basically a prisoner of her heritage. From the day she was born until they day she dies, she'll be on the road as a diplomat. At least politicians get a holiday once a year, and are able to spend the riches they amass. As a person, she has to be considered an inspiration. She's worked her ass off. Personally, instead of setting up some huge party for her, I reckon it'd be nice if she was given some time off, and she got to spend some time with her family, instead of having to fly all around the world meeting people for the umpteenth time
I joined the Army at 16 years old in 1988 and was proud to serve my Queen & Country for 24 years. God save the Queen!!
you can never tell in 10 years time they may find a pill that slows some people aging and you live to be a hundred and sixty!
ender you must be quite young as the royal family has enjoyed many holidays that you or I would have loved ,but never could have, not so many nowadays last 20 years but in the 70's and 80's went to very exotic places.. Shiny most likely goes on holiday and gets rat assed see's nothing but his bed or the bar, whereas the queen and millions more go on holiday to see or do something.. I love travelling, scenery and practicing my hobbies of photography and Radio .. ... fishing .. mountain climbing, and exploring places very very few people have ever been..
