When I was Shiny's age I thought as he did.
I changed as I grew older to respect her and our monarchy.
I also hope we stay with tradition and that Charles will be our next Monarch.

Exactly the same with me RP - I was quite the republican back in the 1980s. Since then I have matured and witnessed the corruption and flaws that exist in presidential regeimes. We are FAR better off with what we have.
The only gripe I still have with the royals is with the 'hangers-on' - the distant relatives which still have a share of civil-list handouts so that they can attend champagne parties and go shopping for Gucci handbags and shoes - they can take a hike as far as I'm concerned - but then, I suppose thats a gripe with successive governments rather than the individuals themselves - I suppose that if someone offered me free money I would gladly accept - a bit like footballers really - the problem is with the system.

ender you must be quite young as the royal family has enjoyed many holidays that you or I would have loved ,but never could have, not so many nowadays last 20 years but in the 70's and 80's went to very exotic places..
Shiny most likely goes on holiday and gets rat assed see's nothing but his bed or the bar, whereas the queen and millions more go on holiday to see or do something.. I love travelling, scenery and practicing my hobbies of photography and Radio .. ... fishing .. mountain climbing, and exploring places very very few people have ever been..

You clearly know nothing about me. So please don't judge... <doh>

What does it matter? You're gonna judge someone by the way they spend a holiday ffs?!
NO it doesn't matter a lot, but as the comment said just out of interest, NOT "hey Shiny I want to judge you on your holiday preferences"

and why do you feel the need to add aggression to a low key exchange?

Not all of us young'uns, Uni students go on holiday to get rat assed. just because you know some that are like this it doesn't mean we are all the same. I for example enjoy some things you've listed above and do myself apart from fishing. I for one avoid all places students go on holiday because I prefer going on walks and peace and quiet like Cornwall for example like Mullion (family live their) and places around the area. I've seen the Minack Theatre which was one I really wanted to see and was lucky enough to watch a play while I was their. Still don't judge us all the same please :)

General theme is a cheap destination with a good nightlife and good weather.
If you are lucky you will go on a ski trip with a snowsports society. (Is influencing me on where to go)

not judging... however... Lamorna cove used to be the most beautiful place, the pub on the left on the way down where I played darts and drunk with locals, even went out mackerel fishing long line with them.. last time I went it had lost everything that made it "the most beautiful place" just along the coast the Minack theatre absolutely, most enjoyable place for a picnic or watching a play or event I saw 2 musical evenings.. Walking hard for me now 60km and 1000m in 5 days have done most of the Cornish coast but a few bits along coast closer to Plymouth elude me... if you get the chance walk in the Alps, but have a few days in the Pyrenee's to warm up! ... in 2008 MY BEST EVER YEAR I did the equivalent to MT Everest in height and 240 kms in under a month ( 29days walking 17 of them +2 days of via ferrata )
