I (and many others I expect) will be the first to apologise if this does all turn out to be hysterical nonsense and we stay up comfortably, time will tell but other teams getting their targets & strengthening IS worrying
Sorry long sight, I'm really not agreeing with you. Teams are rotated these days and Bradders was, IMO, a central part of that benching or not. I can't envisage a squad with him by even making the bench. There is no way he's a fringe player - he's appeared in each game so far!
Simply not enough though, we should of had a squad bedded in and raring to go this summer. Mbokani is going to be expected to do miracles and the guys short of match fitness.
It's a pretty poor show, yes we've made a couple of astute additions but essentially we've done it without spending any money. I wouldn't say we've weakened the squad but I'm not convinced we've strengthened it significantly either. I think we are going to struggle to score enough goals and even one injury at the back could leave us very exposed.
Why loan Vadis out now, is it a new transfer policy to buy players for big sums of money then never play them?
I'm quite content with the dealings - we may well bring in players in January - many folk keep saying we have enough depth to stay up-and that AN forge a team to succeed- a few patients are on the mend- all is good - it's just a game - why all the tension and hostility- let's have an online huddle
It's true based on a sample of four games, which is hardly representative of a season is it? This isn't the 1970's, you don't go trough the season with only 13 players making appearances all season. Oscar hasn't started for Chelsea yet this season, will they sell him? Like I said you're taking a very simplistic and short-sighted view, one I cannot agree with.
Yep, strange one for me that. Everyone saying that Andreu and Vadis would be like new signings this year. Now out on loan.
Pretty much agree with your post KIO. It does seem naive to hope that the players who were the nucleus of the team when we were last in the PL are (with a few additions) being entrusted to keep us up. Why not take a risk/gamble with all the PL money that's on offer next season??? I gambled on taking a season ticket for 4 years (the maximum I was allowed before McNally took over and saved a large amount of money), so had 3 years of PL football for under £300 a season!!! I'm not sure I'll be taking the offer of a 3 year season ticket now though.
So now BJ, Odidja-Ofoe, and Andreu are no longer available for selection, leaving us 3 players short in the squad. What next? This whole season is unravelling for no reason at all.
Another two centre midfielders out. So howson mulumbu, dorrans and tettey. Surely that must free up space for a last minute centre back signing
I had such a Sh*t day at work, Came home knackered and pissed off but excited to see who we strengthen with. To see we have weakened our squad today has been the final kick in the nuts...
Despite what I said earlier about Johnson, I still feel upbeat. If we go the rest of the season and play badly and get relegated then I might look back thinking we should have strengthened, but it's a little to early to be panicking. AN got us this far, we owe him to keep the faith.
