Ben, this goes with my theory of the new found thriftiness being more about FFP - and avoiding fines (both this year's and two years ago).
Yup agree with that. In the long term picture it's important to not been seen as pushovers in the transfer market as well. We have the money to say no/high asking prices. Yes we might lose out on lots of cash on Austin now but in the long term we will make more money on transfers this way. I wouldn't be surprised to see Charlie sign a contract extension with clauses securing both him a transfer and the club money down the line (January or next summer if not promoted).
