Higuain - We were in poll posistion to sign him, but dropped our interest when we thought we could get Suarez. Bacca - Ac Milan signed him, ffs. We can triple their wage offer. Manzkuic - There was a chance to sign him when he left Bayern, again we could offer more money than Athletico, same goes for Martinez. This is not Arsenal of all old, we are giving Walcott £140,000 a week, ffs.
When we can get the likes of Cech,Alexis and Ozil, we clearly have the pulling power to sign most of those players, I mentioned, although clearly now Suarez is out of our league, but we blew our chance to sign him, already.
Also Wenger's obsession with Benzema has played it's part in us not signing some of those players, now Benzema is a player who is out of our reach, yet Wenger keeps dreaming about signing his fellow Frenchmen and ignoring viable targets who are better than Giroud.
I told you the same old Arsenal transfer window routine. 1. Make one good/top signing. 2. Claim we are in the market for someone in a position where we are deficient. '3. Go after a target that is highly impossible to happen. 4. When the window closes, tell the fans "we tried but no one was avaliable." Rinse, lather and repeat.
What's worst is that some fans will defend it and continue making excuses for Wenger. Even though they keep saying 'next year, next summer'.
i remember someone from Arsenal saying that the "last minute" deal to bring in Ozil had actually taken 3 months to sort out. only when the window shuts will we know what AW has been up to or not
The thing with Ozil was that we had rumours circulating for a long time. So unless we sign Benzema I dont see anyone else coming in because it is strangely quite!
There had been talk of us trying to get a player from Madrid and having to wait for Bale to go through for a while that season. This one would really have to come out of nowhere
I wouldn't be surprised if we were in for Benzema. But whast is more disappointing is we should have had some back up plans should it have fallen through. I can't for one imagine that there was no one else available that would have been an upgrade to Giroud. But the fact that we haven't got a DM is even more annoying, it is one area that we really needed bolstering and its an area that is much more gettable than a top striker. This is where Wenger has made a clear mistake in my opinion, Coqs is not enough, period.

We are agreed then. ozil was a deal that had no rumours, took time to put in place, and was probably dependant on other deals being done such as the Bale sale by Spurs - who wanted it to go through on last day to make it look like they really weren't selling him (yet everyone knew they were as Spurs had already gone and spunked the Bale sale money on a bunch of ****e) so there is hope till the window shuts ?
I've already found some paper rumours that Arsenal were after Ozil 4 days before the window shut. There were probably others. Hard to find reports from 2 years ago so saying they were no rumours is an easy claim to make as it's hard to prove otherwise.
