I've just seen a report that said the original £7.26m for Pato is wrong, and his release clause would actually be £14.5m. Supposedly this is because of a non payment of image rights by Corinthians.

How do you feel about the transfer at that price?
For a player with a year left on his contract and issues with his current club? Seems unlikely.
This might just be more grandstanding by Levy with regards to the Berahino transfer.
If there are clear options available, then it strengthens our negotiating position, I guess.

IF we're looking for a £15mill striker, I'd go for Austin instead. At half the price - fine, probably worth a punt. But £15mill? Nah, not for me.

There seems to be a lot of mind games with this berahino transfer. I'm just really surprised there's this much drama over him to be honest. It's like he's become the holy grail of strikers. £25m is a lot of money. If Chelsea can pick up Pedro for 21m, then I'm sorry, but we must be able find a better striker alternative at £25m.

Reactions: Citizen Kane
I'll say it again... isn't the whole reason why we're going after Berahino because he is proven, at international level, to work well with Kane?

Are you guys saying that that is worth nothing, and that it makes no commercial sense for Levy to pay extra for that comfort?

It's a poker game between Levy and Peace. Levy is hoping that Peace will blink first and that he won't want an unsettled player on his books after the window closes. Peace is gambling that if Levy won't pay up, he can hang on until January and one of the bigger boys will be desperate for a striker and pay up.

For my part, I'm assuming that neither will blink before Tuesday and that if we want another striker before the window closes, we'll have to look elsewhere

Berahino fails to make the 18 for West Brom, again. They do have three strikers on the bench, though.

Especially as Austin is proven in the premier league.
He has had scored goals at a relegated club for one season
Doesn't prove anything.
Darren Bent springs to mind as a proven goal scorer who weakens almost any XI.
Michu springs to mind as a one season wonder.
I'm more worried he is a second Kenwyn Jones....

Sorry, but that's absolute rubbish. He has worked his way up the leagues and has been profilic at every level he's played at. Granted, if he'd been **** in the premier league, one could say that he couldn't make the grade. But once again, he stepped up and scored 18 premier league goals, 3 less than Kane.
I'm not exactly in favour of the signing of Austin, but I'm struggling to understand how so many fans are really against signing him when he's half the price and he's proven.

Bolasie to Sako. Palace lead at Chelsea. Not a good time for Chelsea staff to be making themselves conspicuous. Cowering in the dressing room at this point sounds like a good career move.

FIFA say that Moron's treatment of Eva Carneiro will be on the agenda for their next meeting - although no doubt they'll pass some directive on medical staff during games, rather than throw an entire library's worth of books in the direction of the smug git.

Quite. As we all know, this can't be Maureen's fault, as he's a recognized genius. So, some poor ****er's for the chop!...

Ryan Fredericks has left Bristol City to join an unnamed London club, having only joined from Spurs this month.
Smacks of Levy getting Levy'd, as I assume the various clauses don't go with it.

All aboard the Nope train, calling at no stops to Nopeville.

Austin all the way at that price. But Pato at half that is an intriguing idea...

This thread should be at it's busiest right now really and it's all gone quiet.

I wonder why.
