Yes it's a different situation. I'm only talking about how reliable Koeman's comments about player intentions may be. Yes. Koeman said Alderweireld wanted to stay on 6th July. He signed for Spurs on 8th July. Either Koeman was lying (doubt it) or his information was out of date. The same may be true here, especially as the Echo article also quotes Koeman saying he hasn't spoken to Victor. I'm not suggesting Wanyama wants to leave but I'm not going to accept he wants to stay just because Koeman says it. Koeman may not know what the player's intentions are.
The only info we have is from a foreign paper, which then got repeated by papers here. Hardly evidence. However, when asked about his plans at the press conference, Victor only pleaded ignorance and said he concentrated on playing football. Sounded like it was at least a thought in his head as he didn't do an outright denial. I do believe his illness though....don't think he would deliberately have missed a Europa game.
So what if he wants to leave? He's under contract to us and we don't have to sell him. Alderweireld was never our player in the first place.
Unless we have some gem completely hidden from the media and available for immediate transfer, Wanyama will not be allowed to leave.
I haven't commented on whether we can keep Wanyama. As I said I am merely commenting on how reliable Koeman's comments on player intentions may be. I haven't expressed any opinion on anything else. I have no idea whether Wanyama does want to leave but if he does then he still has a little time to play all the cards want-away footballers play in an attempt to force the club's hand. Refusing to play etc He may be happy to stay though.
Well Sky with their usual accuracy for detail did say Vic and Sadio were available for selection to play today, they didn't say who for.
If this isn't being finalised today then it doesn't look as if anyone will be presented before the next match... Any news on this?
Or he asked to play one more game to say goodbye? If he had signed he wouldn't be playing for us tomorrow anyways.
Man U defender Tyler Blackett arrives at Celtic prior to an expected season long loan, which would free Virgil to leave: http://www.express.co.uk/sport/foot...ransfer-boost-Man-Utd-defender-arrives-Celtic
True , the longer this drags on , less chance of it happening IMHO . I hope it does , but if he is having second thoughts about coming to us , would it really surprise anyone ? I don't mean second thoughts about leaving Celtic , others teams must be interested . This is going to be a LONG season .
Atletico Madrid had a buy out clause on our first refusal to buy him, which they paid us. So he was never ours, and it came down to his choice in the end, as with all transfers.
