Bookmakers have drastically slashed the odds on Charlie Austin joining Norwich City. The QPR striker’s chances of signing for Premier League new-boys Norwich appeared slim with Sky Bet, who priced the move up at a huge 33/1. This afternoon the bookie shortened that price to 10/1, however, after there was strong support from punters for Austin to join Alex Neil’s side. And this evening a further flurry of bets have forced the bookie to slash the odds even further, with the goal-scorer now just 5/2 to join the Canaries. How much is the telly money this year? I suppose with that plus increased other receipts from being in the Prem still makes it profitable for a lot of them. But with the wages the big spenders will shell out it's a close rumn thing.
I doubt he would go to the 6 finger freaks at Norwich as they will be fighting relegation, been there done that. just looked at the clubs interested and it must be quite sad for Charlie after scoring 18 Prem goals and getting England call up and have interest from these clubs Norwich,Bournemouth,Palace,Sunderland,Newcastle.Villa
I'd hope he'd back himself to get a mid table club and maybe stick out a season with us to get a move. Head says he'll now take what he can get, even the budgies. I'd take £10m plus Hooper though. We're in danger of him going and no time for a replacement.
I have a feeling Charlie is going nowhere, four more days to go. Having said that, crazy things happen on deadline day.
Can't see him going on deadline day due to the failed medical he had, if there isn't a solid bid by Monday close then he'll most likely stay as anyone wanting to stump up £15m will want a fairly drawn out medical to make sure all is ok!!
Hooper had his chance and chose Norwich over us ............ he blew it. If he can't get a start or isn't feeling the love at Norwich, be dammed if we want him here. Hes' a double dud if you know what I mean. He probably wants out of Norwich cause he doesn't want to wear those awful 'horizontal egg salad stripes' of their away kit. Just my opinion, which is worth squat.
If he was going then Palace with Glenn Murray coming to us as the makeweight wouldn't be the worst scenario...
If Austin is desperate to play in the premiership at any club then let him because the hype about Austin is actually bigger than him. He isn't anywhere near the top player people think and far better players abroad in fact a wealth of stars waiting to play for big money Austin called up for a England match Never played? This crazy UK culture finds a English player and suddenly he is the best in the world. The big clubs have not touched him why is that? The money is peanuts to them and will buy abroad every time
