Good luck to HKR in the challenge cup final at Wembley tomorrow.

Regardless of what side of the city people are from or whether football or rugby league I wish them well.

Although they are clear underdogs it would be a great achievement and good for the area as a whole.

I don't like egg-chasing much but have seen a few games this year on Sky, Rovers have some good players like Mantovani they must have a chance with his kind of magic

10 years ago this week Hull FC played Leeds in the final and no one gave them a chance either, they went on to win with a last minute try and conversion causing one of the biggest upsets in recent years.

Let's hope 10 years on Hull KR can repeat history, no one outside of Hull thinks they stand a chance, in fact its probably the biggest mismatch in terms of league standing in the Super League era. But Hull KR have some excellent players and if everything clicks they stand a great chance of causing the upset.

Good luck Rovers, its been too long since a team from this city won something, time to do us proud.

Hull City have won promotion twice to the PL. That'll have had much more impact showing off the city to the world than anything in the regional competition of rugby league.

I don't listen to local radio or get the local press, and I possibly wouldn't have known this game was on if I didn't work near a Rovers fan or hadn't been down Holderness Rd to see a couple of scarf vendors.

The RU is getting far more national coverage, and City's successes were global.

It'll be good if a local side does well, but I reckon a bit of national context is needed.

You can't watch much BBC 1 either.

Had no idea they were even in the final, or when it was.

All in all, a bit of a meaningless competition which 99.99999999999999999999% of the countries population neither know about or give a flying **** about.

I don't watch BBC 1 or the Beeb in general very much at all. I'm guessing they're showing the final, which would make them mentioning it a bit of a non-statement really. Fact is, the media I use has barely mentioned it, in fact I don't think I've heard mention at all. That's why I put what I did.

Locally, it's news, nationally, it's not really an event.

I know some may well get prickly and upset by that, but it's just my experience. I only really mentioned it because of someone overlooking City's success and what it brought to the region. It certainly shows the relative levels.

Mantovani was a great orchestral leader very prominent in the David Whitfield era. I think you may be confusing him with Josh Montellato the Hull KR winger.

A few of my family are making the trip from Hull and I will be watching the match live on TV. I too wish Rovers the best of luck and hope they perform well.

Give it a rest, this thread is to wish a Hull team good luck for their big game, not to start some dick measuring contest between two completely unrelated sports.

This thread was always going to end up like this. Bores the **** out of me. Good luck Rovers.

The question is are they worth having a dabble on. Are they good odds for the win?

It's roughly the same odds as it was to beat Warrington. This is a much harder game, against a team that knows how to play the occasion, honestly at 4/1 I might give it a miss, perhaps look at a try scorer / winning margin score cast instead.

Probably better to wait until nearer to KO as money will be piling on Leeds so the odds on Rovers will drift, 4/1 isn't what I'd call value at the moment. That's going to be my strategy anyway.

I may even wait in the hope that Leeds score first and then the odds on Rovers will be more like it, and they've already proved this season that they're capable of coming back to win from a losing position.

It'll still be the highest attended sporting event in the UK this weekend though.

I don't like either side, but can't bring myself to want Rovers to win so will be supporting Leeds for those couple of hours
