I think the, other than the losses obviously, the way we are losing is hard to take. Last year we were so easy on the eye and the fans were proud of how we play. Everyone made a thing of it. Now we are resorting to long ball and the only player that suits is Pelle. None of our other players suit that style and I'm baffled why we aren't playing to our strengths at the moment.

Think people are reading this wrongly. The point he is making is a simple one...the crowd mood will be better if we have a new player to discuss. In any case I think the crowd will be less confident than usual before the game, but will be fully supportive of the team. Saints fans will not boo just because we went out of a tournament. Play well and get a result and all will be flowers, sunshine and butterflies.

It's slightly confusingly worded, by either Guan or the OP. It confused me. What he is basically saying is we have a new player for certain; and we may or may not reveal that player before Sunday. If we do, then Guan imagines that the crowd may be kinder and more optimistic. Rather than the definitive article stated in the original sentence: 'The crowd's reaction on Sunday will...'
Don't worry, Spurs have learnt their lesson from splurging more or less the same amount on a succession of players they've managed to wreck. They wouldn't do anything stupid like offer that amount for Schneiderlin or Vic.
I read it as: The atmosphere being good or bad will depend on whether or not the club present a new signing to the crowd.
