Was it the dreadful amateur Nicky Henderson by any chance?

The correct answer was indeed Mr Henderson. Well done, Stick. Although 2 points deducted for saying the word ‘dreadful’ in the same breath as the forum’s favourite trainer.

Incidentally, back in the day Mr Henderson was also the forum’s favourite Corinthian.

Question on rules regarding non runners. If you did an each way double and the two races ended up as four runner races is your stake regarded then as a win double or is half of it a non-runner?

This depends on your bookmaker’s rules. Most bookmakers (e.g. Ladbrokes, Paddy Power and Bet365) will treat your bet as “all to win”, so the place part of the each way double will go on to win as there is no place betting available.

Unless your bookmaker’s rules say otherwise, this is also the treatment dictated by Tattersalls Committee under Rule 3.

Not much to get excited about with many non runners but one does stand out for me in the 4.00 Chepstow. BONJOUR STEVE has ran here many times and has only finished out of the places once when the ground was firm. When soft has appeared he has either finished 1st or second. I think with his course record and ground to suit I can see him winning and winning well. Has just gone 9/4 from 5/2. Also has T Marquand claiming 5lb.

Good point but tbf its come from a couple of big price winners could have achieved thst profit from backing his 50/1 shot.

That's like saying yes Man Utd have won 20 league titles but if they hadn't won 3 of them they'd only have 17??! What difference does it make - he's won on a 50-1 shot and an 8-13 fav. They all count!!

I think this De Sousa stat is based on extremely flimsy foundations. If the close finish in ‘The International’ had gone the other way then the £200 profit would have turned, at a stroke, into a £50 loss! Furthermore, to uphold this level of return he will have to continue to ride 50/1 winners each and every month...which just ain’t going to happen. If De Sousa continues to ride the number of winners that he is doing then his runners are going to be massively over bet by punters (like what happens with ‘in form’ trainers) and go off at much shorter prices than they should. No system (apart from the Coronation Street one) lasts the test of time as punters will simply over bet any qualifiers from it which, of course, shortens the prices, shortens the profits and ultimately turns them into losses.

Meanwhile, I’ve checked my roguedar in for a service and overhaul. Impulsive American was shortened from 4’s to 2/1 but proved far too keen and had nothing left at the old business end. Still worth watching though as I’m sure those terrible old rogues are up to something re this one.

Good luck all.
I dont really understand the point of why the 50-1 win doesn't count?? There have been a number of runners he's had which have been 25-1 or higher where he has come nowhere but I've still backed them in this system. Doesn't matter what the odds are. What matters is if you have followed De Sousa every run since 1st August you have had 22 winners and are heavily in profit.

Typical 2nd again, fluffing the start. Mind you plenty of money for the winner though.

Need De Sousa to keep the runners ticking over as I backed him with £20 at 25/1 for the jockeys championship back in May, had a bit of luck with Moore getting injured and then Hughes calling time early!!

Knight music cruises to victory again today....what's the point of me giving you my number stick if you're not going to message me lol ;) only joking buddy ;)

This has to be one of the worst days racing of the season so far, the horses at Chepstow and Brighton are almost knee deep in mud and everything that is exciting about racing is nullified by this mud. I don't imagine Newbury this evening will be any better.

You are going to hate me fella but I thought I added you to the list. Others I am sure will gleefully tell you that I sent out the double on text last night. 5/2 and 13/2 but big rule 4's.

I really do apologise fella, I genuinely thought I had added you to the list!

What's all this then, some private club, like the Freemasons!!!!

Anyone know of any prices yet for the big sprint at Beverley this week. Only reason I ask is I see one of my favourites as well as Rotos MAAREK is entered dropped down to listed company and if the weather carries on the way it is (which it's meant to) he will shine in the mud!!

No need to apologise mate ;)

I text some of the lads on here when I have tips that the connections don't want to see appearing on forums. Happy to add any of the regulars on here!
It doesn't happen often but in the last week a winning single, an each way fourth and a winning double today. Probably nothing now for a month.
I never mind sharing Squire stuff with everyone but there are owners who would rather not everyone was in the know.

6.00 Ballinrobe THE INFORMER 5/1 (B365)
I was at Downpatrick a few weeks ago and bumped into a guy who was of the opinion this lad was going to go very close as he'd been campaigned very 'sympathetically' nudge, nudge, wink, wink etc As it turned out he came second, beat by one who was clearly even more considerately handled during his previous handicap runs! The selection however travelled real well and whilst beaten easily into second they drew well clear of the rest. He was also the subject of a decent on course gamble, from 8s to 5s and I think he could recoup losses here. Top pilot young Townend booked is another positive indicator.

Edit: time wrong
So easy. Well done.
