You use the name the English use because you don't actually speak Welsh ....... all those double road signs are a waste of money. Why don't you call it Abertawe?
Trying to compare the history of Swansea to that of Sunderland is akin to comparing a new public lavatory to the Colosseum. In other words there is no comparison. Swansea are having their little fling with the big boyos, but will soon return to their normal level before too long.
HISTORY.... (Record or narrate of past events) (even longer than 50 yrs !!!) Manchester United 20 League Wins / 15 Runners Up Liverpool 18 / 13 Arsenal 13 / 8 Everton 9 / 7 Aston Villa 7 / 10 Sunderland 6 / 5 Chelsea 5 / 4 Manchester City 4 / 5 Newcastle United 4 / 2 Sheffield Wednesday 4 / 1 PS.. Cardiff 0 / 1 !!!!!
We take as many as we're given, that amount depends on the club and the police. Why wouldn't we take full allocation if it was offered? There's demand. You can even remotely come close to selling any allocation so it's a bit of a feeble comment. Very touchy about their traveling support these Swansea lads.
We've got a rich history a strong support and we play in our own country's compertion. Three things which can't be said for Swansea. A brief smudge of a half decent side in the grand scheme is hardly makes you a supper club. We've earned the right to be here. 8 years now and we deserve to still be here as we've picked up the points to stay in the league.
Here's a post i've nicked from rtg....just for the swansea lads.. Its written by a exeter fan, about tonights game....puts you welsh ****s to shame. Not If Exeter can help it, we will be travelling well for the game. Plenty coaches booked and people car sharing....we brought 3000 to Leeds on Saturday and 750 to Carlo in the leAgue. Have taken 770 to Carlisle before now for a bigger game. Granted it's a Tuesday but more than 650 will come
Well i was expecting a small nibble, but as you didn't, fair play. I like when lower league clubs draw higher leagues...Gives them a chance of making a few extra quid....
Come on, be fair and answer the question .......... why don't you call it Abertawe? I'm genuinely interested, if you don't know the answer that's fair enough.
The official name of any sports Club is established in its constitution, which of course can be changed. The majority of people who live in Swansea speak English so there is no huge desire to change it. Welsh speakers call the City Abertawe and to be honest it wouldnt bother me if we changed our name to Abertawe. As for road signs etc being in Welsh I suppose the tax payer is now paying the price for an attempted eradication of the Welsh language by the London government in the last century.
Ah I see - I didn't realise that 1973 was outside the last 50 years - you see, when they teach maths in England, 2015-1973=42 (which is under 50) - Or do you include the "Football League Trophy" in your reckoning? In that case we've won the Championship quite a few times too - so basically you're full of ****!
I stand corrected. In the last 42 years Sunderland have won less trophies than Wigan Athletic ....and Wimbledon.
I see the number of years are going down! PS..Are you counting divisional champions trophies in your calculations..
