It is such a tragic thing to happen, So very sad that a family day out can end in such a way.

Seems like the death toll has risen to 11. The pilot is still alive. How the hell can anyone survive that? Hope he pulls through. Thoughts to all those affected by this.
I think I read that the pilot had bailed out. Just guessing, but it sounds like he fought it as long as he could and jumped as late as he could, poor sod. They might mend his bones, but the mind'll take more than an elastoplast.
2nd major accident at Shoreham air show since I moved there. I wasn't there to witness this one, as I was suffering a very different kind of trauma at Charlton at the time. Very puzzling that the plane crashed into the A27, which is a dual carriageway which runs parallel to the South Downs. Mostly the low level stunts take place over the airfield itself and planes then pull up and over the Downs or turn over the sea. The last fatal accident was due to a plane crashing into the hills of the Downs which seems a lot more explicable given the set up of the event...to say that air shows shouldn't take place over built up areas isn't quite fair in this particular instance. Unfortunately, this simply seems to have been a 1000-1 chance tragic accident
He didn't bang out he stayed at the controls, the cockpit section broke away.I think I read that the pilot had bailed out. Just guessing, but it sounds like he fought it as long as he could and jumped as late as he could, poor sod. They might mend his bones, but the mind'll take more than an elastoplast.
Out of respect for those who died, they've just announced that there will be no Shoreham Airshow in 2016.
