Ah, now I realise I've completely misread your post and you were saying Maguire over Bruce. I thought you meant Maguire and Bruce as CD. Apologies, I have been working non stop and brain certainly didn't function on this occasion!
Most importantly, Maloney is the attack minded playmaker we've desperately lacked.
Now it's Brucies jon to play a system he can fit into.
He could do a job on the left wing of a 4-4-2. But he'd be largely wasted.

5-3-2 with a triangle 3, Maloney at the tip of the triangle, Hayden and Meyler at its base.
Maloney reminds me of Koren, I think he's the creative force we've been missing. Also takes a very good corner and scores a few free kicks which is always a bonus.
I think he'll play on the left of a 4-4-2 initially. Bruce has probably lost a bit of faith in Clucas already, he looks a waste of £1.3m (could of gone towards Gray)

How can you write a player off after less than half a dozen games?
I've seen him in 4 league games, 1 cup game and 3 friendlies. I think you can make fair assessment of a player after 8 games. And my assessment is that he's ****

He does look bang average though.
I don't it's controversial at all, they're both brave strong defenders, but one can also play a bit.
To be fair Sterling can make an assessment of a player in twenty minutes on a grainy stream...8 games for a fair assessment? With over a third of them friendlies?
I presume you'd have said Thierry Henry was **** then, as he didn't score in his first 8 competitive games for Arsenal.
To be fair to Clucas we looked far better yesterday with him giving us width on the left compared to Aluko who failed miserably to do this.
