Its the other side to what Soton fans are so proud of. Yes it great that they can buy cheap and sell high and then go out and buy cheap to replace. But at the same time you only ever seen as a stepping stone club, ie you play well at Soton and 2-3years on you can get your big money move. Wanyama has now seen almost all of his contemporaries move on and play for bigger clubs, so of course he thinks its his turn. I did mention this in the summer, when we had Saints fans camped on our board. What happens when the players you buy, hoping they will become good, don't turn out as good as the ones you sell?
The issue with this game is it only takes one error and you've blown it. Let's be clear Atletico are the standard bearers for the selling clubs as they used scouting and reinvestment to build to the town in Spain albeit briefly Are Southampton doing this? Seems not. To me a lot of clubs are buying now and getting guys on as long a contract as possible in advance of the tidal wave of cash coming to the prem. I think the day when the average fee is 25mil and the average wage is 75k is not far off..... Southampton have not rewarded their best players so they've seen Chambers Clyne Alderweireld (stretch but they had a deal) Shaw Schneiderlin Lovern Lallana All go and mane and wanyama be targeted. Sorry but you can't lose that much talent and improve. I've prob missed a few cos I can't think this late.... Simply put they need to pay a bit more going forward.

Undecided about Wanyama. Clearly has potential but isn't much more than average right now. Not great with the ball any time I've seen him. Seems to have built up a cult reputation for being tough... remember when Tiote was worth £20m?
