With Lucas leaving and Allen injury prone - I think there's a place in the squad for Tex (unless we bring someone in). Same goes for Ilori, I rather have him in the squad than someone like Toure.

Always the cynic ... but I fear you could be right.

He rejected a contract at PSG before he left because he wanted regular football.

I agree with you - it's hard to name anyone who is better on the ball and can actually defend.

The best LCB in the league IMO and I include Terry in that.

so now you guys are limiting to LCBs.... very oggod.

next you'll limit to CBs with Mohawks and who play for france.

he's deffo the best mohawke styled french LCB in this league... no question.

    Who else is better? ...

If we're talking about the best centre back in England, for me it's Kompany (if he regains his form from 2 years ago).

Terry is very good but limited in playing the ball.

    Sakho is certainly up there.

It's no coincidence that CL teams want to sign him. The man is quality and is amongst the best in the PL when fully fit.

I can name at least ten that are every bit as good if not better and that is me with red tinted glasses.

Smalling is a player I think is crocked too much but no worse than sahko and more talented too.

You mentioned kompany. As a defender for sure.

Vertonghen is a better guy on the ball.

Alderweireld was under rated until we saw him at Southampton.

Shawcross is very dismissed as a kickers he is more than that.

Jones is used in cm... even if he's a donkey he's still as good as sahko.

Koscielny is very under rated but makes mertesacker work.

I don't like terry but he reads the game well.

Ivanovic is a CB playing RB. ..

The list could go on down into westham with Reid etc.

So supposedly we've had a £15 mill bid accepted for Mkhitaryan.

I'm a little confused why we're buying yet another attacking player instead of a defensive midfielder or a central midfielder. (that assumes rumour is true)

The good thing of course is that means La la less likely to play.

Is Firmino a flop in training and Rodgers doesn't want to use him so buying someone else?

i'd be utterly bemused if thats real... it makes zero sense to return there now after buying firmino for a massive amount. we don't have 15mil or we'd be spending it.

Henrikh Mkhitaryan to Liverpool: £15m bid 'accepted' by Borussia Dortmund, Juventus remain interested
Borussia Dortmund midfielder being linked with Anfield switch again
    By SIMON RICE
    Friday 21 August 2015

Liverpool have reportedly had a bid of £15m for Henrikh Mkhitaryan accepted by Borussia Dortmund.

The Reds have long been linked with the attacking midfielder and speculation that Brendan Rodgers could lead a bid resurfaced earlier this week.

According to reports, Juventus are also keen on the 26-year-old Armenia international, who joined his current side from Shakhtar Donetsk back in 2013.

Reports today suggest that a bid from Anfield has now been made - and accepted.

Mkhitaryan has made 94 appearances for Dortmund, scoring 24 goals and providing 20 assists.

In February, Mkhitaryan's agent suggested his client's future lay away from Signal Iduna Park: "Henrikh wants to leave Dortmund at the end of the season. We will have to wait and see what we can do."

    Independent. Article copied above.

Echo also has blurb on him:

Elsewhere, Henrikh Mkhitaryan must choose between Liverpool and Juventus, so say SportMediaset.

That's right, folks, the Italian websites strike again as they claim the Borussia Dortmund midfielder is attracting interest from both the Premier League and Serie A.

They suggest the Reds are preparing a €21m bid for the Armenian, six months after they were last linked with him.

German newspaper Bild claimed back in February that Liverpool were 're-opening transfer negotiations' over his signing - and Brendan Rodgers is returning once again.

Mkhitaryan's agent said back in February: "Henrikh wants to leave Dortmund at the end of the season. We will have to wait and see what we can do."

He's a great player and would improve the team. He's also familiar with Klopps tactics already...:1980_boogie_down: It's just odd we're focusing only on attack when we're defensively lacking and (if Lucas goes) we could be light in midfield.
