There have been one or two costly strategy errors for Hamilton but i find it remarkable he can claim the Hamilton is the most unlucky after Buttons wheel fell off last race.

i agree button has had worse luck regarding pit stops and mechanics. didnt they also leave a radiator cover on last year at monaco?

the thing is button accepts team errors and moves on so we dont discuss it much whereas hamilton always assumes the whole world is against him and causes an uproar making us focus more on his problems

  5. Sportydan, thank you for this excellent analysis. I'd say spot on and agree with your Top Ten hence no particular need to list mine.

Wakka2, that is one of the characteristics I find unpleasant about Hamilton. The self importance he assumes. Nothing new sadly since the 1992 champion had a similar approach. He may be regarded as the fastest of the current crop but no way is he as complete as the three ahead of him on Sporty's and indeed Autosport's list.

I think the main problem peopel on forums have with Hamilton is more because of the Hamelots, and their insane ramblings whenever he does well/badly, than him. That said he makes one or 2 comments that are ill-advised.

10: Petrov - now struggling in regressing Renault but much improved from last year and broke big 3 stranglehold on the podium.
9: Heidfeld - another Renault podium and currently fighting through the field better than his team mate in an increasingly uncompetitive car.
8: Alguersuari - From zero to hero. Should've had points in Monaco, been scoring ever since. Extra kudos for tyre management. All done in crap car.
7: Perez - Best of the new boys, impresses despite awful luck and makes it look easy, especially on his tyres.
6: Kobayashi - Consistently pushing up there with the big boys despite inferior car. Always great to watch.
5: Webber - Should be a closer second in that car, no excuses.
4: Hamilton - More complete than Vettel and should be up there with Alonso but he lost his head and kudos with it.
3: Button - Edges Lewis because he has kept his cool in adversity, proved his doubters wrong and shown consistency and even aggression!
2: Vettel - Has it too easy. Superb in quali and leading from the front; less convincing when forced to fight.
1: Alonso - For keeping his cool, cleaning up his act and showing his class.

I didn't get to see quali on saturday but didn't they mess up his Q3 strategy by giving him old tyres when he wanted new ones?
At Monaco they wouldn't let him qualify till the end - big error
Several times they have made him go out in Q3 twice when he wanted to save tyres and he gained nothing, and lost tyre performance for the race.
    They underfuled him on Sunday
They brought him in for a pit stop in Monaco and weren't there
He has had other slow pit stops

    Sportydan what a great article!

I agree with all your rankings apart from.

Massa should be 9th. Heidfeld has been poor this season apart from that 3rd in Malaysia.

And Vitaly should take tenth and Heidfeld can take 11th.

    Rep.

If it's all the same to you Cameron, I'll choose who I ignore. What matters to me is what someone writes each and every time, not their past incarnations.

Besides, shouldn't we all give peace a chance?

I find it interesting that Rosberg is rated so highly - he's a talented driver of course, but his defensive driving is questionable, his starts have been poor and he only has 40 points - 6 more than Nick Heidfeld (who's been unlucky this year). Schumacher has been quicker than Rosberg at times during the race and with the exception of China, I haven't seen anything special from Rosberg which puts him above drivers like Webber and Kobayashi.

Why is Petrov 19th? He is easily top 10 for me. Once again, Glock is too high too.

Lets be honest Keith's opinion is as much worth as a fart in the wind like the rest of us.

He's bonkers though, putting Nico up into 5th, he had his good moments but got screwed over with the tyres/fuel/crashes = (Australia, Turkey, China, Monaco), or was just completely quiet... (Canada, GB, Malaysia) and Nico is my second favorite driver. Last year was a better showing IMO, since he just now looks to be more interested in just beating Schumacher again rather than getting the first win.

Putting Kamui so low down is more proof he's losing it in the head, points scorer at 6/8 grand prixs when the car was "legal", had 2 first lap punctures at the back this season but still got it into the points without a safety car to help him, sorry but he is easily beating Massa and Mark when it comes to what cars they all have.

For me Lewis is having his worst season to date, luck or no luck. While Jenson has been at his best ever and should really pip Lewis for 3rd, Keith yet again folding to please the majority fan boy clubs to not start a flame war.
