Not if he doesn't want to be here and 5th choice cm. 4m is better saved then spent on omeone not playing
Lucas doesn't seem the kind to throw a paddy if he doesn't play every week. That said it probably depends on how highly Rodgers rates the younger players. If he sees them ready to step up and gain first team experience in case of injury. If he doesn't rate them then Lucas should stay for backup. If he thinks they're good enough to fill in then getting them experience would be good. 4m is not worth gambling the clubs depth over. Unless the kids are ready for action.
the only problem with what you just said is we have to actually buy to make it work.. As it stands we have not therefore we are light at CM... extremely light given allen's history of injuries and poor perofrmances after injury.. we in effect have 2 CMs one of which is milner and we wil ltherefore be looking at coutinho at LCM The rumoured wage he is on is indeed 80k so a seaosn long loan plus a laon we MIGHT generate 3/4mil total but there you go. one big injury and we lose more than that i nleague positions as we look far too light I'm not bothered if we do buy... I've said lucas and allen aint up to it... but we need to buy.
Of course the loan could be set up With option to recall. That's obviously not ideal because would need to be retrained in tactics etc, but it would help alleviate injury worries.
Lucas somehow missed out on the Latin temperament as well as the looks so I agree he's unlikely to throw a strop. However, he's 28 and may just feel it's time to move on and play a bit of football before it gets too late. I'd prefer to keep him. You know what you're going to get with him- unspectacular but reliable back-up- but if he wants to get more game time I understand his decision.
If Lucas was at the level he was 2-3 years ago, then I would rather keep him. But the last year combined with pre-season really concerns me because he's so easily beaten now and can't cover the ground quick enough. Shame to see but I think he's finished - not just physically but mentally. He;s had to keep fighting to win over fans and the manager. I also heard from a number of people that we told him to leave in Jan, was close to leaving but Rodgers pulled the plug at the last minute. Whether that's true or not, I don't know - but as I say, he's mentally finished at Liverpool just like Johnson was.
well we are pushing him out the door..... so its our own fault. but i can't not call it like i sees it. IF a buy is made ok.. if not... well... trouble ahead.
If we can't get a favourable loan term now. It's what 1.75 max wages until January (during which time he's be backup) and then we can try to sell him again... And if we fail loan.
We've spunked a load of money. Clubs know that we have to off-load and if they buy, it'll be on their terms now.... I like Lucas, he's been loyal and solid but he's past his best now due to injuries and probably should go. I share others concerns that we have no specialist Midfielder that can defend properly.....let's hope our wheels don't fall off this season and regret not buying another midfielder.
We don't have to sell, although it wouldn't hurt. However, none of those we're looking to offload is worth a whole lot anyway.
Manager and club may well be two different things but they can't both be in charge. Manager picks who he wants to play. End of. If the club don't like it then they need to make a change. Dangerous ground though as that suggests a player is bigger than the manager.
Maybe he sees him similar to Bale, more dangerous further up the field hence looking at another LB to be first choice or compete with Gomez.
Moreno is no bale... even I I think bale is in no way world class nor worth the fee.... Moreno is well shy of that
