They did say earlier that SFC were about to make an official statement this evening, followed up half an hour later by this...so it sounds like they were in contact with the club. It's too late in the window to sell such an important player.

Start of last summer and this summer. Obviously board deserve faith for what they have done but players still left after this was said before.

I was just thinking about how fans of other clubs view us. We are clearly seen as a selling club for obvious reasons but I like the fact we have desirable assets. I was thinking of Spurs and who would any of the top 6 want; and I could only think of Kane and Eriksson.

They never said they wouldn't sell any of the players that have left. They said Morgan would not be sold last season and he wasn't.
Beefy it is that......but I'm afraid that's the truth.
The only thing missing is Mane to make a statement saying he's always wanted to play for Manure.
Let's face facts we are a selling club...whether it's now,January or next season we sell our best players.

It's the exact same for every club. We just have more players that the top clubs want because we are better than the rest, hence our 7th place finish.
I'm just amused reading United fans responses on Twitter etc - they really have no idea about Mane as a player.

If a player doesn't want to go he will inform the club,but he wants to go,get the best dosh for him,move on and replace him.
Buy cheap sell for profit move on,that's Saints way always has been always will be.
I understand that if a player wants to leave there is little that we can do to stop them. I get that. But I still yearn for the player who is world class and shows loyalty to saints. MLT is the obvious one. I thought Lallana might follow him but he neither stayed nor developed beyond the just above average England international.
Of the current squad, JWP has the potential (cue abuse from JWP haters....) and Mane - though not home grown - definitely has the potential to be world class. Would love to hear him reaffirm how happy he is here - would mean so much more than a club statement.
We should not get too disillusioned about losing players. As we force our way higher and higher, I can already see players staying longer.

I'm not going to look back and check Craig, but I bet this time last year you didn't predict that we would finish the season on 60 points and in 7th place.
No. It won't always be that way. Already players are preferring to sign for us than so called big clubs. Not all but some. And that's progress.
Morgan wanted to leave, but couldn't. I'm not saying Mane is a case in point, but for every team there comes a moment when you have to stand firm.

Have been,will be,always will be,.....unfortunately clubs of our size will always look to sell for vast profit..ie buy cheap sell big.
Can you tell the future? No one knows what will happen or how Saints will be in 10yrs time. I bet know would have guessed how well we would have done after two relegations.
