It isn't, but look at his goalscoring record and then think back to the amount of times we could've signed a player like this and passed, only to see them go on and do well for somebody else.
I hope we do get this Gray fella anyway, but I'm not going to make the mistake of vastly over-rating him like a few have on here
Personally, if he scores 20 goals in the Championship and takes us up I'll be happy. If he's then **** in the PL then he's served his purpose and he can go somewhere else.
Shane Long is well loved isn't he at Southampton so you are right, it's about opinions though, for me it looks like we will pay well over the odds for this Gray fella
It pretty much unheard of for a player to jump from the conference to the championship in one season though. That's why he's so expensive! People like ALF jumped from L2, but I've never known anyone from the conference. If you can jump like Gray has, in standards, then he's more likely to be able to score goals in the PL too
I think he will score 35 goals, have 15 game winning goals, have 20 assists, give change to a homeless man, donate bone marrow to save a child, save a puppy from a burning building while carrying a goldfish bowl and cut a whale out of a drift net.
But when you look at the sums being mooted for other Championship goalscorers, it's about right. It's about being in the market; we moaned about getting crap in from foreign countries but it's well known that foreign imports are cheaper (generally speaking). If you want good, British talent you have to pay the money for it. A lot of people seem surprised that the likes of Burnley and Bristol City are bidding lots of money for strikers, but they know that to get a goalscorer you have to spend money, so that's what they are doing, it doesn't strike me as surprising at all.
It will be interesting to see what happens with this anyway, I feel like having a bet with somebody that Akpom will score more goals for us than Gray does this season or more goals than Gray does for whichever team he plays for.
Then he'll step down on a rake in his back garden, hit himself int he head with the handle, receive brain damage and get sold to whoever Harry Redknapps got any sort of involvement with for £15m
You should have put 'save a woman from jumping off the Humber Bridge' as Hull City staff have form in doing this, if our old manager Brownie is to be believed
Just before I go for a cold shower (overheated today) anybody else on here think we should sign up Deanos lad Josh? Why not I say!
But Akpom is a special talent. That's been obvious since the Toulon tournament and also Arsenal's pre season from an outsiders point of view anyway, but I'm sure Arsenal fans have known how good he is for ages. Funny though that a lot of fans weren't too keen on us signing him as he hadn't scored a professional goal to date. I'd imagine they'd score similar amounts.
No Because he wasn't very good And trying to wind us up after his penalty was not suitable Leave alone
Thats what I mean exactly! People go on about stats as if they mean everything but I watched this Akpom before I even knew we were after him and he looks brilliant. I had the same opinion about Gnabry and suggested on here we should have gone for him, that was months ago. If you know about football you can judge players without having to rely on stats which are often meaningless or irrelevant
Cheers, didn't actually see him play obviously, just saw a few blurbs about he had a shot or two on target
Other than the hissy fitters it is David Burns who is getting ""impatient"". Understand that Burnsy was a disgrace last night in Accrington with many comments. Glad i was at the game and missed his rantings.
