Im a big fan of Lucas and would be very sad to see him go. However, he has had injuries and the italian league maybe would suit him better if he is to have continued problems and therefore problems getting back into the team.
If we brought in Asier Illaremendi, as a replacement then it would be a very good move from us.

That is a good call. The Italian league would suit him right down to the ground.

Wed never get enough to the get illaramende unfortunately.

But if we can get money for Borini and possibly Balotelli then the money could be there.....Think our squad would be a force if we added Illaremendi. one of the best in the Prem. (at a whisper.)

i would still like to see allen go as well, think he is a waste of a squad number and wages personally.

hurt brendans ego too much to admit he brought ****e though sadly!

Honestly I do agree. In an ideal world he'd be gone... look at shelvey etc going and Allen staying you have to say he's a bad smell.

If lfc get shut of Enrique this window and hopefully balotelli then the next obvious dead wood are Toure, allen and Lucas.

These are guys no other clubs will queue up for them will they?

The fact that Assaidi and Aspas went and Borini has been told he can leave slightly undermines this assertion.

That is fair but it's also fair to say that while Allen is average those 3 are championship at best. They should never have been bought ever.... Allen should not either but at least he offers something on occasion.

    We need better to compete

Oh I agree but I think BR is cold enough to replace Allen if a better option comes along. He even has the constant injuries as an "out" with Allen rather than having to admit he's been less than expected.

My personal opinion was he was a friendly face brought in by a young manager to sit and tell the rest of the dressing how great the manager is. BR gets that, Allen got a move to a bigger club. Allen won't complain too much if he's shifted to a mid level PL team next year.

Enrique eating again...it's all he does. So need to get rid.

    I'm sure he's a nice bloke but...

Particularly at the beginning of his tenure, a new manager will bring in people he's familiar with, that he feels he can work with while he gets to know the ropes himself. Allen had done well for BR before, so it's understandable that he thought he could work with him with us.
As you say, I'm sure Rodgers is perfectly capable of getting rid if he feels it necessary.

I'd say Balotelli has run out of clubs that would be willing to pay proper money for him, we should have offered a short term deal with the incentive of extending based on performance. Got him playing for his future or cut losses after the year. (Might sound expensive at £16m though)
Enrique, I'm surprised clubs actually remember he's a footballer. How many games in the last 2-3 years. Should have been moved on last summer.
Toure, nah after us its Middle East or retire.

Allen and Lucas however I can see a few clubs being interested but only at around £10m, if we're lucky. As mentioned the Italian clubs would be interested in Lucas and Allen I could see at lower-mid table Prem team, maybe even back at Swansea. But we'd never get much for either of them.

Would Rodgers really ever let Allen go to another team? That would be like Lassie's owners selling him to a Korean restaurant.

I feel I should apologise for that post.

Koreans don't eat Welshman. Lassie's owners wouldn't sell them Joe Allen.

    • Tottenham lead the race for FC Basel youngster Breel Embolo, who is rated at £10m by the Swiss club.
    • Arsenal are interested in Karim Benzema but refuse to pay Real Madrid's asking price.
    • Liverpool's Lucas set to join Inter Milan after an alleged bust-up with manager Brendan Rodgers.
    • West Ham are pushing ahead with a move for free agent Joey Barton despite an angry reaction to the news from some of their fans.
    • Glen Johnson has risked angering his former manager Brendan Rodgers by claiming Liverpool do not have a stronger squad this season - despite spending millions on the likes of Christian Benteke, Roberto Firmino and Nathaniel Clyne over the summer.
Johnson, who left Anfield for Stoke City last month, believes most of Liverpool’s signings will not be automatic starters.
Furthermore, the 30-year-old feels the departure of Raheem Sterling - who left Liverpool for Manchester City this summer - is a significant loss for Rodgers’ side.

Anybody else disappointed we didn't go for Shaqiri? I know it's not a position we need to strengthen as a priority, but it looks like Stoke are going to get him for £12m.

That's a bargain is that, and the lad is class.

Interesting article from Tony Barrett. Key points (summary for Gez) below:

    - Clyne, Lovren, Milner, Lallana and Benteke all started against Stoke - players personally identified by the manager.

    - Overlooked players like Sakho, Markovic, Moreno and Origi - committee signings.

    - Although players not signed against his will, Rodgers had to accept that internal politics meant that he could not always get his first target.

    - Sakho had made himself available for the game against Stoke. While Rodgers used the cover of Sakho becoming a father to explain his absence, Henderson was picked during similar circumstances for the FA Cup quarter final.

    - Sakho, Lucas and Moreno are not first choice - Lucas most likely to leave but not sure if the other two will stay and fight for their place.

So it looks like Rodgers is doing things his way and if he fails/succeeds, it will be on his own terms.

I respect this if I'm honest. However, it certainly puts to bed the concerns I had over Rodgers's bias towards certain players i.e. committee signings.
