I think Can probably offers more in that role although is young and hasn't played an awful lot plated that role in Germany and did well and looks more mobile and can drive forward with the ball unlike Lucas.
Can and Lucas play the role differently. I'd say Can is a holding player whereas Lucas is a DM so depends what you want
Business was meant to be done.. only outgoings.. however Lucas wasn't meant to be one of them? If he does leave, then he'll need replacing, unless we have someone in the U21s thats worthy of promotion? I'll admit it, I like Lucas, not just as a player but they way he's conducted himself ever since he's been here, I'll be sad to see him go.. But he's young enough and good enough to get regular game time! If he does leave, then I wish him nothing but success!
If Lucas goes we have to sign some one or our midfield depth is gone. Henderson, Milner, Can and Allen is not enough.
Yep- he's been completely professional throughout his time with us, imo. He still has a role to play as a squad member, but it's whether that's enough for him that matters.
I agree with saint... he's been a model pro. injuries knocked him down. he developed form a hmmmm not really good enough to a top of his game all over the park player and injury knocked him back. Its like this. darren fletcher for utd was similar. top of his game firing on all cylinders and all about the park... comes back half the player he was. take note of this lesson for mr henderson
If we sign Lucas, then I'm sure we'll buy a replacement. Squad too thin. Lucas isn't a DM - he was a square peg in a round hole. Only ever excelled when the team was struggling but hardly performs when the team is doing well. Model pro though but he's not good enough for where we want to be.
Actually (with a replacement brought in) I'd be glad to see Lucas go. He's been a great and loyal servant. Shows what ignoring the naysayers, head down and hard work can get an ordinary player. No fuss, professional. Deserves to be on a team playing regularly, just unfortunate it's not ours but that's life. Would rather see him leave on good terms, with our thanks and hopes for a good future.
TBF to Lucas he never got a chance when the team was doing well. he was either injured or rejected because Rodgers had to squeeze Gerrard in.
West Brom boss Tony Pulis wants to add recognised full-backs to his squad, and the Daily Star are this morning are reporting that he is ready to move for out-of favour Liverpool left-back Jose Enrique. The 29-year-old has been at Anfield since Kenny Dalglish signed him in 2011, but is currently behind Alberto Moreno in the pecking order of Brendan Rodgers' squad.
I'm surprised he wants JE. JE isn't a thug who likes muscling over other players and isn't very defensive for a full back. Is TP trying to score goals now?
doubt it but he could be after a cheap player... can't be more than a mil or 2 max... prob not even that.
So that's Berahino, Rondon, Lambert and Brown, plus Gnabry on loan, for West Brom now then? Paving the was for Berahino to move? To Spurs? Some great proof-reading from the BBC though: "He is not be eligible for Monday's Premier League match against Manchester City at The Hawthorns (20:00 BST)."
Barcelona youngster Adama Traore is "convinced" he'll complete his move to Liverpool in the coming days, and West Bromwich Albion have emerged as potential suitors to take Jose Enrique on a temporary deal. Metro's Tom Olver cites Spanish website Fichajes.net, which reports Traore will soon seal a £4.2 million move to Anfield despite interest from a host of other Premier League parties. please log in to view this image David Ramos/Getty Images Olver goes on to state that Traore will complete a medical "in the coming days," which would make him the Reds' seventh capture of the summer transfer window. The news comes not long after Spanish writer Sergi Dominguez sourced Spanish radio station RAC1 in stating the Reds were no longer part of the race to sign Traore:
