They embody everything wrong with our country, refusing to believe that their own side has done anything wrong. It has been the same for over half a century. When something goes wrong Unionists blame Nationalists and vice versa. Then people wonder why I refer to it as a backwards, bigoted hole <doh>

they?
are you talking about me?

You see, in reality most people consider it absolutely reasonable to expect the police to explore other avenues before using dangerous weapons. Most people don't refer to people belonging to an organisation based on intolerance as "some of the most tolerant people you could hope to meet".

not Chicarito.

reaching for the plastic bullets as a first response is far more reasonable than exploring other methods first.

You don't know my friends so please don't lump them in with the people who are not like that. If they were not tolerant, decent people they would not be friends with me.

Have you ever been in the extreme situation that the police were in? What would you do if the yobs were throwing petrol bombs and bricks at you?

Your friends belong to a blatantly sectarian organisation chico. have you raised this with them?

and yes. I have been in extreme situations that the police have been in, and I have handled it using diplomacy.
The Police in Derry used a different method in handling the situation and you know what, it worked out better for them.

"any means necessary" your words chico. does that mean reaching for the nearest weapon at the earliest opportunity?

So your answer to dealing with a riot is to let them tire themselves out. I wonder if you would have the same opinion if you or a family member were dragged from your car as it was set alight.

it is an answer med dog.

the whole premise to this thread was that it was stupid for Gerry Kelly to suggest that the use of water cannons was premature. Given that Fr Gary Donnelan ( an eye witness) agreed with that assertion, given that this was the opening salvo by the police, then it is evidently not stupid in the slightest.

And also. Weren't you complaining earlier about the police being lenient when it came to loyalist rioting? You didn't say that was a great method used then.

No. I didn't complain at all. I said that they weren't quick to use water cannons on that occasion. evidencing that they are at least proficient in the use of other tactics.

Slightly biased maybe?

that is a very simple take on it JJS. Both were highly critical of the fact that the rioters went against the wishes of the residents to show restraint.

How many times? I don't agree with rioting thugs from any side! No matter how many times i have to tell you!

You asked on the 10th of July on my opinion of the trouble that would occur on the 12th July. I think my repsonse was something along the lines of 'it was going to be very messy' I am unable to predict the future, but I was taking a guess. What more did you want?
.

A LIE.

I never asked you about trouble in the future and I did not say anything about the 12th, I specifically asked you about the trouble that had already occurred prior to the 10th.

Proof?

Maybe you should be more concerned about events in Northern Ireland?
No answer.

Have you written any aricles on the General board in the last few weeks about the trouble?
The trouble that will occur this Tuesday night.....I don't believe I have
So there has been no trouble so far?

End of thread. Where did I mention the 12th? Oh that's right, I did'nt, YOU DID.

You refused point blank to admit that there had been any trouble.
