So now that they've improved quite a lot it's completely unbelievable they could make the jump from tenth, with a terrible start, to seventh?
True but I don't think Palace would swap their midfield and strikeforce for those of many teams, including Spurs. Defence could be an issue but Pardew seems to know what he's doing.
Treble, the thing is this... ,No one knows what is going to happen in football until it happens. You have professional pundits making predictions, and very few of them agree on the majority of things. Most professional pundits get most of their "predictions" wrong. Do you think they go around calling one another "bell-end" or the suchlike? No, because they are in the business to speculate, not on certainties - because there is no such thing as a certainty in the Prem - but on possibilities. There is a general consensus that Chelsea will win the league, and that the newly promoted teams are the ones most at risk of being relegated, but, to be frank, these are the types of predictions that any ****wit (not just Lawro and his cohorts) can make. But, even in that, there are descenting voices, with a couple of professional pundits predicting that this season will be Arsenal's, and that Norwich will avoid relegation. The fact is, that no opinion is invalid in football. Sure, you can make it up, but that's all that anyone can do! Can Palace finish 7th? Of course they can! In very much the same way that Spurs could finish in the top 4. Most pundits might not think it likely, but neither is either suggestion against the realms of possibility. Posters need to be reminded - the thicker posters more often than most, I'm afraid - that this is a footbal forum, and that such things as contemplating the "possible-if-somewhat-unlikely" are permitted subjects for discourse.
I'd like to have a bet now that Palace get closer to the points tally of the seventh team than Spurs get to that of the fourth team.
Yes HIAG but what your essay forgot to mention is that like with any speculation, the good ones are usually based on an informed opinion. Not just made up as you go along bcos you're not big enough to admit you made a mistake. You see it's not your original prediction I have a problem. So you said Crystal Palace would give Arsenal a run for their money last season. So what? No, it's not that, it's your incessant need now (as in most debates) to continue to flog a dead horse, to keep digging deeper against all rhyme and reason (as evident from Watford's post about Palace) when a simple "I got it wrong" would do.
HIAG's punditry is something to behold. Last season he had Arsenal to finish 7th, with Spurs qualifying for the Champions League. This season he's already predicted that Spurs will take 6 points off of Arsenal and that Arsenal could struggle to make top 4
That was just a piss take of HIAG's power shift, as you know. I don't think West Ham will bother Spurs. Stoke, Swansea and Southampton though, could be a different matter.
I had the audacity to express an opinion about football on a football forum! FFS! It's hardly something that you need to crow about, is it!
I'm perfectly calm, Flower! Jesus! I can barely remember what I said at the start of the week, let alone a month or two ago. However, you always keeps a full and complete record of everything I say, so I daresay that you can remind me. Whatever I did say, however, please bear these facts in mind:- (1) this is a football chat-room site, designed for people to express "opinions" about football, not a tell-the-truth-or-die experience; (2) some of us, and especially me, like to engage in banter, and do not necessarily always express things that we actually believe in, but do so as part of an over-arching theme of banter-like discussion (3) very few people could give a flying-fart what I may have said last week, let alone last month. With those facts at your finger-tips, off you go...
Wow, you sound calm following that statement with 'Jesus!' How can they be 'facts' when you've just said this site is about opinions ? You've just contradicted yourself again there. Is you saying that you 'do not necessarily always express things that you actually believe' another way of saying you are talking **** ? Also, if you can barely remember what you said at the start of the week, then why did you have a hissy fit when I mentioned the word 'predicted' when you said that Spurs would take 6 points off of Arsenal this season ?
