In his time at Kiev and Aderelcht before he scored 50 league goals in 86 matches. There is concern about last year but in one sence it makes his ratio in the previous seasons more impressive. He seems to have a combination of jerome and Grabbans better attributes.
We haven't bought a striker this window though have we? And aside from some (as far as I can see) reasonably tenuous links to players I haven't seen too much concrete evidence of us actually trying that hard to buy one either
I honestly didn't have them in mind... I also think that Veretout and Gueye for Villa could be outstanding value though I really, really hope they aren't because Villa desperately need to be relegated. On signing 29yos - Palace have been happy to shell more out on Cabaye, Leicester on Okazaki - both decent buys I think.
But as I said in my post earlier, the Belgian league is hardly comparable to the cut and thrust of the Premier League is it? The only league he has played in that is comparable is the Bundesliga where he played seven games without scoring for Wolfsburg, and he also had ten games in theFrench top flight where he managed just one goal for Monaco. I put my hands up and admit that apart from Wiki and that Youtoob clip I know nothing about the guy, certainly not enough to make any confident prediction about what strengths he would bring to us - if any!
Maybe I'm just a bit of a gambler, I like the idea of taking a risk to find a 15-20 goal a season player rather than signing a solid 10 goal a season play. It may work it may not but if it does then it's the difference between mid table and relegation scrap.
I genuinely think Cabaye could be a risk for them and I think they have overpaid personally, especially as he seems to have spent a lot of last year injured - and would appear to be starting this season the same way He does have the benefit of a few years Permier League experience though, we know he can cut it in the top flight and he's a French international, so I personally still don't think he's anywhere near the risk Mbokani would be. Not familiar with that guy Leicester signed, didn't they get burned spending big money on a striker who hardly played for them a year or two ago? His name escapes me unfortunately
None of the evidence would suggest he'd be anything like a 15-20 goal a season striker in the Premier League unfortunately, in fact I reckon 10 goals would be a pretty good return for him, and I'm pretty sure we have one or two of them already
http://www.hitc.com/en-gb/2015/08/0...table-offer-for-porto-midfielder-juan-fernan/ The hack says that Juan would be our 5th signing then lists 5 players that we already signed.
Either mine or your eyes are deceiving us fella as I canonly see four names listed? "If Norwich can agree a deal with Quintero, he would become the East Anglian club’s fifth signing of the summer, following deals for Graham Dorrans, Youssouf Mulumbu, Robbie Brady and Jake Kean." This guy would be potentially a brilliant signing if he's the one I rememver from the World Cup last year! Yes, there would definitely be risks involved, but the potential could be incredible if it works out!
I'm confused. I thought we were comparing Mings and Brady and whether we'd overpaid? I think we've slightly overpaid, I think Bournemouth have substantially overpaid and I agree that I think they've overpaid by more, but only time will tell which is the better buy and both may well prove perfectly reasonable. All I was meaning to say is I don't think we should hold any hopes that Brady will command a big sell-on fee though, and that should pretty much apply to every one of our purchases because as Bath says sell-on potential doesn't really seem to be our aim at this stage from the board's perspective - I'm thinking Dorrans, Mulumbu. And that's right - priority is to stay up. So on that basis for any player (striker or otherwise) I'm not convinced we need to worry too much about age. Don't get me wrong, I'd much rather we signed the Colombian, he looks great - but all the problems Munky listed about Mbokani apply to Juan Quintero (with the obvious exception of age).
Quintero certainly appeals! Would really like to see someone that exciting in our midfield. Whilst I'm all for buying quality when it's available, and improving any position we can, surely we'd have to sell someone in order to free up space for him? In a 4-1-4-1 or 4-2-3-1, Howson, Hoolahan, Andreu and Odjidja-Ofoe are already competing for 1 or 2 spaces, with Dorrans, Redmond and Bennett options at a push. Even if we could keep all those central midfielders happy, the 25 man squad limit would be an issue. Perhaps we're going to play 4-6-0 this season, and not bother ourselves with the debate of whether our strikers are good enough.
Based on pre-season my suspicion is that Andreu will be gone - probably on loan to the Accies or elsewhere. RvW might go and I suppose Turner if we find a new CB.
Haha, is just just a shout like "Christiano Ronaldo anyone!?" Or are we linked with him? Because he is amazing!
Tomlin to Bournemouth. On one side, I didn't think we should go for him, even though he has a touch of class, we have players like that, who are fitter athletes. On the other hand, Watford and Bournemouth are going out there and bulking their sides. they finished above us, and we have done very little.
